Hikari was a city left completely abandoned. It hadn't received the damage Sora had, but hadn't been inhabited for years. Ever since the Angel population plummeted from the Pandemic, this place was just a ghost city now. But it had a lot of sentimental value to the Demon. Hikari had always been the largest city of Aura, remaining so, even as the floating islands drifted and moved. Originally, Shinda's old home was here, but as the islands tended to move around, he took a guess that the house would be far away two thousand years down the line. So Shinda didn't even make an attempt to look for his old home, focused instead on finding all research he could. The city might be dead, but that only meant the kind of documents Shinda was looking for were even easier to find, left untouched in the libraries Shinda found littered around the floating city. Despite how this place remained him of bad things, Shinda like it here. Things were silent, he wasn't fearing for his safety, or avoiding others here whilst on the hunt. Shinda had time in the quiet to think, think of his plan, and how to fix what he'd done. He'd disappeared from the swamp to immediately come here, so Shinda hadn't seen Tenshi or Chester since, and didn't want to see them, not until he was certain the plan he thought he had would work.
He'd done it before, in fact there still existed relics of the things Shinda had made, Sun Weapons. Weapons made out of the souls of Sun children, created from destroying their Sun Tears, and capturing their souls whilst they remained lost in the Living World. Shinda had made a few in the past, with the help of other Demons, but their methods had always been rather random, and even feral. Shinda knew at some point, Angels also learnt how to create such Weapons, so that was why the Demon planned on using their approach this time. Akvan could be saved, if not by the old Demon method, then Shinda hoped the old Angel's way would work. He darted from island to island, searching houses for ancient books or scrolls. Many had been cleared out, no doubt placed in some sort of safe after all this time, or lost. But, there was one library. It looked more like a giant Temple, giant pillars surrounding the box-like structure, with intricate statues guarding each corner of the exterior building. Inside, it was a maze of books, artifacts and more.
Shinda spent a long time in there, the building so vast and full of opportunities to find what he was looking for. He didn't see daylight, or care how long it took him. His stomach surprised him by rumbling at one point, reminding the Demon of how being alive felt, by feeling hungry for the first time in millennia. He decided to go out to search for food, before practically tripping over something. It was a hoop, in the ground, as Shinda turned to check. Pulling on it revealed an entire section of the library underground. This part was dark, full of dust and smells of decay. It was also much smaller, with only a few scrolls tucked into a shelf, accompanying a simple, rotting wooden desk and parchments now turning brown. This room liked like one that hadn't been used in many years, it was probably abandoned during the first war, to have a library then built on top of it. As odd as it was, Shinda found it very useful indeed, especially after looking at the three scrolls left in the room. One spoke of ancient prophesies, dating back to when Angels first appeared, and their beliefs towards the Sun Goddess. There was another on the origin of magic, how it related back to individual souls, and what souls even were.
Then there was the final one, the scroll a lighter colour, written far later than the other two. And inside, with a joyous coo from Shinda, it detailed exactly what the Angels had researched Sun Children to be. Their powers, their origins, and most importantly, how to extract one's soul to form a Sun Weapon. Ignoring his hungry, Shinda felt drawn into reading the hefty scroll, purple eyes darting across the ancient texts. He memorised the methods over and over, moving around the room to sit at the desk, then lie on top of one shelf, then on the floor. Time zoomed by as the Demon read, he then turned to the desk, grabbed the old parchment, the thickening ink and pen, and wrote down his own notes. Scruffy as they were, and practically impossible to read, Shinda continued to scribe, until he finally folded up the scroll, and his own notes, and left the library in a rush, thanking the secret room in his mind for the hope it granted. His wings took him across Aura, reminded by the pain of his stomach what he still needed to do. As much as Shinda desperately wanted to help, he also needed to keep himself alive to do so. So Shinda landed in an even more remote part of Aura, on one of the larger islands that housed lakes as well as some possible fauna to hunt.
