Note: Located just outside the swamp where the Purgatory archway is located. Takes place immediately after This thread.
Akvan didn't think he'd go to Purgatory smiling. A year ago he would have been seen as mad if caught doing such a thing. But, honestly, Akvan was getting along with his former enemy better than even he expected. Perhaps Shinda had just been walling off his true nature, now finally brought out after Akvan gave him the hope of finally moving on. It was an incredible thing to watch, someone so shut off and previously hostile towards the world make such a change. They'd gone from tearing each other apart, to then standing and looking over the Living world, just talking. Some Akvan never expected. Talking to Shinda grew ever more interesting. Sure, the Demon was a little aggressive with his speech, he swore a lot and tried to act like he still hated Akvan, but nothing could change the growing look of trust in Shinda's purple eyes. He had a lot of opinions on the world, many were conflicted with Akvan's own opinions, but some where shared. There were some words said during the last meeting that were still held in Akvan's mind. After discussing a way to pinpoint the area of Purgatory's boundary that was weakest, and therefore easier for Akvan to break, Shinda had stopped to look over the view of different Human cities below. It was night, so all were reflections of the stars above as street lights and lanterns lit the buildings up, which made them appear as rather beautiful despite the ongoing war. Shinda had gone silent, before admitting something. That he always had a fear of war. He built the fires, but could never control them. It had been the same with the last war he ignited. Shinda always held a deep regret of the damage done, even if it wasn't directly from him. Like a stone hitting a silent lake, his first strike caused all the ripples, that would expand and grow into tsunamis, with or without his help. Then Shinda had quietly muttered, that he wanted to stop this war, if he had the power to. But all his powers could do was make things worse.
Akvan had stopped the wallowing, by suggesting that, before Shinda passed, he should spend some time in the Living world, watch as others, such as Akvan and the ones the Sun child knew would shape the future into a great one, change the direction of this war. Put out the flames, and then perhaps Shinda could finally get a taste of a world at peace before he died. The Demon seemed to smile ever so slightly at that, a sincere smile at last, and agreed that he'd like that.
So Akvan had left in search of more ancient texts, going to the remains of Aura to search, before returning to the swamps with an old scroll tucked into his belt, a smile on his face. It seemed so impactful to see one like Shinda, previously seen as a Devil whose only pleasure was in inflicting pain, actually smile sincerely like he'd done. Akvan almost felt obligated to make sure the Demon smiled more like that, he deserved it after the hell he'd been through. Akvan's heart was torn a little, the world behind him seemed to pulse with trouble, souls were in distress as far as his sight could reach. But right now, Akvan couldn't do anything. He alone could never do much. Perhaps freeing Shinda might prove the Sun child's worth, and perhaps Shinda himself might find it in himself to help stop the fighting, who knew. Right now, Akvan needed to focus on breaking the barrier of Purgatory. And he was near a break through on the research. If he trained himself, Akvan technically had the power to match that of the Sun Goddess. Having his entire soul still present would make things easier, but something in Akvan's gut told him that it didn't matter how much of his Tear remained. There was some sort of key aspect he needed to focus on that should increase his strength to Godly levels, but he had no idea what it was. Akvan had a feeling it was emotionally based, but that didn't make things easier. He planned to talk to Shinda, ask for his opinion, as someone who used to 'control' Sun children in the past. Though, on his way through the swamps, Akvan stopped in his tracks when he heard the flap of wings above, looking up to see the Kingly figure approach, looking like a half-dead corpse, that sent a shiver down the Sun child's spine when he focused on Kakushin's soul right now.
