Well it was about time for at least some change. Sure paying the creepy doc with stolen money was working, but the days spent in jail plus the fact that there were very few cities left that didn't try and shoot Banto as soon as they saw him meant that he needed to look for money elsewhere. And this was as close as he could find to an actual, legal job. A hired guard on a ship. The ship ran a trading route from Minato. It was the second ship Banto had tried serving on. The first seemed alright, but the traders withheld what they 'traded'. Finding it to be slaves, Banto may have... changed occupation rather violently, from guard to slave saver. All he got from it was a stab wound to the shoulder, and a few dozen kids with no food or place to go. Banto was sure as hell not sending them to Vadium. As much as he agreed to get the crazy guy some 'examples' for his experiments, Banto drew a line for living Humans. So it was a matter of spending the dribble of Sundrip Banto even had to get the slaves somewhere safe, and because of it there was even more debt hanging over his head. This ship Banto had made sure was at least close to being legal before serving on. All it traded was gunpowder and certain levels of gold usually used by Angels in their forgeries. And seeing as the only party that would be distressed by this trading business were Angels, Banto was more than happy to help them along.
And help he had, Banto had gone and slept three hours so far, completely missing the point when they stopped to pick up the cargo. He didn't need to help, it wasn't on the list of his job description. Nor was napping, but Banto wasn't about to go and point that out to the crew of thick-headed fools. As dumb as they were, they had some respect off Banto. They were after all collecting gunpowder and powerful gold ores. All things that Humans could use one day for a better cause than to snoop around under the relic's noses. "Oi! Banto, time to earn that pay." Called over one of the crew. Banto groaned, glancing to the side where almost all the crew were staring and muttering about something on the horizon. Curiously, and guessing it was his job to do at least something, Banto joined them. Something was flying close by, and Banto smiled. Threat or not, he was itching to do something now that he'd been pulled out of the nap, and this new presence might just offer that.
