Chester felt uncomfortable, and not just because she was in a ballroom dress, and having to politely socialise with strangers. It was because tonight was the night, and she had just sent the message to Itami about Onrah's whereabouts and that he was now away from his brothers. With every breath Chester was feeling more and more guilty, after the first meeting with Akvan and then getting to somewhat know his brothers really took the toll on Chester, and in the end, it was her fault for everything... She could have warned them early on, gave up the entire plan and who was involved, and yet here she is, waiting for Itami and everyone else to come out and do the deed. It made Chester sick to her stomach just thinking about it, she wanted to run and hide, never to return. She wanted to turn her back on everything she had ever known if it meant being able to stop this from happening. Chester was currently looking into the water of the fountain in the ballroom, just watching her reflection and trying not to cry. She could feel the moment was near, and it filled her to her very soul with dread. Chester had to stop herself from shaking, it was already bad enough that she was ignoring everyone around her, and it was double as bad knowing Akvan was here as well, any other day she would jump at the chance to see him, but today she couldn't bare it, knowing she wasn't about to just betray Onrah, but him as well. But when she finally looked up, and saw Gensho push Akvan slightly in her direction, Chester knew this definitely wasn't her day, and yet she would put on a fake smile, and hope things would be over soon.

The walk over to the fountain was terrifying. Minus the few kind Nobles that Gensho and Onrah had known personally, Akvan could swear the rest were out for his blood. Every time Akvan tried to kindly ask his way past people, he'd be shot glares, and even thought he could hear mutters behind him as he walked. Going into the centre, where a few people were more spread out as they danced, Akvan was more able to look around. He spotted someone by the fountain, almost looking past them, before realizing who it was. Chester looked... different, and in the best way. Akvan would have stood in shock if he wasn't being shoved on by people wanting the room to dance. Keeping his eyes low, Akvan pushed passed the last of the living obstacles before reaching Chester. He smiled, remembering how many times now Chester, and Onrah, had told him to do more of. Akvan felt the need to bow his head respectively, despite knowing her, this was a formal Ball. So Chester deserved a proper 'gentleman' greeting. "U-ummm... Hey Chester, nice to see you here. Y-you, uh, look very nice." Akvan managed to say, not being able to help notice that Chester seemed a little strange tonight, just like Onrah had been.

Chester blinked away the tears from her eyes and chuckled slightly when Akvan bowed to her, almost forgetting they were in such a formal arrangement. But after that, Chester strained a smile, with Akvan right in front of her, knowing that he had no idea what was to come of his brother... Chester barely managed to even fake one. But that didn't stop the red painting her cheeks at Akvan's compliment. "Hey Akvan, and thanks, that, that means a lot." It really did, give her a skirt and vest t-shirt and Chester was fine, but put her in a restricting dress that she swears makes her look shorter then she actually is, and restricts her movement, and you have a girl believing she looked horrible. "You look quite amazing yourself." And Akvan really did, but perhaps it was that smile, one that just seemed to light up his entire face and make the room seem brighter... Her fake smile wavered a little at the thought, knowing soon that smile would be wiped from his face and replaced with sorrow and tears. "Ho-How are you finding the ball? People giving you trouble?"

Akvan nodded, "No problem." He replied simply, going to lean on the fountain's side. He only spoke honestly, and even now Akvan couldn't take his eyes off Chester. Whilst he'd come to like her amazing personality, seeing her now made Akvan's friend seem even more perfect. Akvan only moved his gaze to look down over himself, chuckling as his face flushed slightly red. "I think I look silly, but I promised Gensho I'd wear whatever he made out for me, I suppose I should be glad it wasn't a skirt or something." Akvan said, smiling honestly. Akvan paused, something did seem to be bugging Chester. Although Akvan couldn't make out what, and he hoped that by looking honestly happy himself, he might get the girl to loosen up. After all, tonight was supposed to be fun. It had taken effort from Onrah and Gensho to make Akvan realize that, so he supposed he should carry on that help to Chester. "The Ball is good, I'm surprised Gensho hasn't collapsed yet, he's worked so hard." Akvan said, chuckling at the memories of a pale Gensho, pacing up and down at his fretted over silly matters concerning his Ball. Akvan smiled almost awkwardly for a moment, "Well I suppose I can't expect everyone to be happy with me being here, b-but I met a few nice people, so at least I know not everyone wants to kill me." Chuckling, Akvan looked slightly quizzically to Chester. "Are you alright?"

Chester was really out of it tonight, mind filled with guilt over something that had yet to happen but she knew would. She could hear Akvan speak, but the words he was saying were not sticking in her mind though she somehow answered in hums and yeah's accordingly to whatever he was saying. It wasn't until Akvan's question did Chester actually hear what the other said, and that was probably more due to panic then actual listening. "Im Fine! Im just..." She really didn't wish to lie to Akvan, feeling as if it would pour more salt on the wound of betrayal, but se had to hold out, its not like she could turn her back on the Outlaws now, was it? "Tired, just tired is all, and perhaps feeling a little drowsy from not eating all day." The first half was a complete lie, Chester hadn't felt so awake any other time. But the second half was a half truth, with the knowledge on what she's help to cause, Chester hasn't been able to stomach anything, but its been the past week, rather then just today. "Sorry if I seem a little out of it. I am truly happy to see you Akvan, you always make my day brighter, especially when ya smile..." It wasn't until after the words left her mouth that Chester realised how much she just said, but for the first time in a week, despite her red cheeks, did Chester give a genuine smile... It was probably because she was here with Akvan.

Akvan didn't like seeing Chester anything but her usual, happy self. She was supposed to be the strong one, with the ideals of gold that made Akvan feel a little better every time he heard them. Akvan lifted half a lip, looking into the sweet eyes of Chester, to see if she was being truthful or not. He didn't buy her being fine, but supposed not having much sleep or food could get one down. Akvan felt happy, perhaps after stealing so much of Onrah's food. Akvan did smile as Chester acknowledge him, getting up to move to her. For once, it was Akvan going into a hug between the two, almost as if they'd switched positions. But something still so new to Akvan, seemed completely necessary when listening to Chester now. And into the hug, Akvan knew it felt right for him now. All thanks to Chester's efforts was Akvan capable of accepting, and now giving, other simple comforts. "Chester, every moment I spend with you makes me feel better. And if my smile makes you feel better, then that makes me even happier." Akvan replied, releasing his arms from around Chester, not even needing to try and keep his smile.

Chester froze when Akvan hugged her, it was not something she was expecting. But none the less she hugged back, holding on for dear life like this would be the last time she ever got to do such a thing... And she supposed that was true, knowing what was to pass, and how Akvan will more then likely never speak to her again. Gripping onto the back of Akvan's clothing, Chester made sure to get the longest hug she could, memorising the warmth and the feel of his arms around her. Chester wanted to burst into happy and upset tears when Akvan spoke once more, she has only ever dreamed that he would find the courage to say such things, and knowing he finally did, made her far too happy. But why today? Why could it not have been when she had the chance to save his brother from a fate made for him, but could be stopped. Chester wanted to pull Akvan back into the hug and never let go, but if she did that, he would know there was definitely more going on here, and she couldn't risk it, or so she believed. "I feel better just having you here Akvan, you managed to fill a gap in my heart that I never knew was missing."

Akvan felt the bubbles in his stomach as he spoke to Chester. It was so open and unlike Akvan that the nervous sensation almost made the Demon sick. But he couldn't hold back anymore, he felt like a time like this. When both looked their sharpest, and nothing but beautiful music and dancing could interrupt them, Akvan couldn't ask for a better chance. A chance to explain how he truly felt. The Demon smiled still, making sure his nervous stomach didn't affect his happy expression. Chester's words meant the world to Akvan, to know he wasn't just the one to be influenced, but to also make a mark on someone else's life that was in a good way. Akvan smiled even wider, missing the feeling of Chester close to him, and therefore shuffled closer. "Chester, you've given me so much already, things I never thought I deserved. You gave me hope, gave me the flicker of the hope that I can live a somewhat happy life. You gave me a smile, something I never thought I'd learn how to do myself without it being forced. A-a-and you help me learn how to love. I-I suppose that's how I feel about you, Chester." Akvan looked down, the bubbles in his stomach turning into a red blush over his face. "I've never known someone so kind, so honest and... I love that," The God glanced to the side, gently placing his hand over Chester's, "If I could, I'd never leave your side, and I never want to."

Chester couldn't stop the tears that were running down her face, both from happiness and sadness. Akvan basically just said he loved her, and Chester couldn't be happier, but she couldn't feel guiltier either, she didn't deserve his love, not after what she did... What she could possibly stop if she was quick enough..... Reaching up, Chester placed a hand on his cheek, tears still pouring down her face. "I love you too Akvan, I have never been happier then what I am with you." Reaching up, Chester planted her lips onto Akvan's for a few moments, probably the only time she would ever get to experience such joy before wiping the tears from her face, and taking a small step back. Chester gave a small smile to Akvan, "I really do love you Akvan. But im sorry, will you please excuse me for a moment, I have something to take care of..." And with that, Chester gave a slight bow, taking in Akvan's features before rushing, in a non obvious way, towards the buffet table... She had to warn Onrah and apologise for everything. She only hoped she wasn't too late.
[End]
