Today had been the first day of a great week. The greatest week of Gensho's life. The Demon had been given the opportunity of his life, and, when the Jiko festival hadn't taken up his time, the God had been bending limits to try and produce the greatest Ball. And to his mind, Gensho had done just that, a Ball fit for the Queen of Angels to attend to. For the work of a Demon, it was art to shock anyone, and most of the Nobles that Gensho's eye caught couldn't help but look impressed as they admired the lit hall. There was all manner of things for the Noble men and woman of Aura, Sohul and Dranar to do. Buffet tables, a dance floor big enough to hold half of Baransu, a beautiful band. And of course, the fabulously dressed Host of the evening, creating dazzling lights of numerous colours to float around the Ballroom. Attractive as the lights were, even they could not compare to the light show of the night's sky. Obviously, Gensho had pulled all of the stocks out for this week, making a work of art out of the sky. A black canvas, littered with colours of blue and green, red and gold. And the moon, she was a plump, gorgeous blue light in the centre of the sky. When Gensho had disappeared to the top of the tower to create such a night, he'd shed a single tear for the display of masterful art. And now, as he walked amongst others in the Ball, all currently sat to enjoy the first meal of the evening, Gensho couldn't help but raise an ear to certain words of praise or admiration to the night's sky.
With a irreplaceable smile on his face, Gensho walked up the diamond and silver staircase to the second floor, leaning over the balcony that overlooked the entire Ballroom floor. He sighed to himself, waiting there a bit longer for everyone's meals to be resting comfortably in their stomachs before clearing his voice. A glass was struck, creating a ringing sound that hushed the room of people. All eyes looked to the host, and Gensho slowly removed his hat before acknowledging every known face. "It is my great honour to welcome every single one of you tonight. For tonight, marks the beginning of a wondrous opportunity to put all pasts behind us. Indeed, I look around tonight and see not Humans, Angels or Demons, but I see individuals of equal value. We all share this world of ours, be it from the clouds or from the ground. And I hope, we hope, that tonight a promise of peace can be made, the sword of war and aggression can be cast aside and replaced by the hand of trust, and friendship." Gensho glanced down to the heads of his two brothers, sitting on the far left, closest to the staircase.
"And with that said, I hope that you can all enjoy this evening, and make new friends from the people around you. Now then, music shall begin shortly, and the floor shall be opened for the hot footed of you to start the dance. There is plenty of food still available each side of the hall for buffet, and on the balcony outside, just behind me, shall be a firework display at approximately eleven this evening. Thank you, please enjoy the rest of your evening." Gensho bowed his head after the speech, hiding his red flush as a few from the audience below applauded him with gratitude. Gensho returned to the floor, nodding to the ones that continued to look his way as the Demon descended from the stairs. With all the formalities and announcements made, Gensho could return to enjoying the evening like everyone else. First, he made a trip to his brother's table, Akvan sitting alone, but with a soft smile on his face. Gensho chuckled as he assumed Onrah had already made a beeline for the food, Human delicacies being his favourite dish, especially when on buffet. Gensho looked Akvan up and down, not having a chance to look at his twin's getup since the start of the evening. Honestly, the boy cleaned up well, although that was naturally due to Gensho mothering Akvan into wearing a suit the God of Night had personally picked out. Gensho walked over, shaking the hand of a nearby Nobleman as he rose from his chair to congratulate the Demon, before grabbing the chair next to Akvan. Gensho sighed, "Go on then, tell me how bad it was." Gensho began, looking to his smartly dressed, small brother.

Akvan had no choice but to be at this event. Many times had he told his happy-drunk brothers that attending something so jam packed full of Humans that would probably all have a grudge against him was a bad idea for him, but alas Gensho and Onrah were hell-bent on making sure Akvan was there and had fun. Honestly, for a while, Akvan was. Simply because he was put specifically on a table with Onrah, so the God of Death could be a safety cushion from anyone feeling like spitting down the poor Demon's neck with insults or words of hate. And so, with Onrah around to make sure no one picked on him, Akvan could actually talk to the others on the table. Two noblewomen, both rather aged but surprisingly nice. Considering both had lost family to disease, it was surprising for Akvan to be asked about his job with one of the two ladies trying to stab his hand with a fork or something. They could joke, Akvan mostly acted as the listener as the noblewomen talked about their lives, and Onrah hadn't even needed to butt in to save Akvan from anything rough.
They all had a meal, Onrah spent most of the time fantasizing over the tiny portions of meat and vegetable that were so small and yet so full of flavour. Akvan was reciting the instructions Gensho had given him on how to eat like a normal gentleman, whilst Onrah was almost licking the plate in food heaven to his left. Once Gensho began to speak, all at the table stopped to listen in, Akvan smiling through his brothers improvised words. A brotherly secret Gensho once told him, that the God of Night never ever prepare a speech. He claimed it never sounded from the heart when copied down and planned. So Akvan was almost gripping his seat when listening to Gensho, almost glad when it was over and people cheered. Akvan turned to face the table, suddenly noticing that all of the others had gotten up. Onrah was racing for a first place position at the food tables, and the two ladies were getting up to move closer to the music.
"We're off now dear, it was a pleasure meeting you, make sure that brother of yours doesn't choke on any bones." One of the noblewomen said to Akvan, giving the Demon a wave before weaving through the tables. Akvan smiled to them as they left, turning his attention to looking around. In a bid to make sure Akvan attended, and looked presentable, Gensho had tried to lure the God by showing him the Human guest list. At first, Akvan had been politely confused as to why Chester was on the list, but at the same time overjoyed. Apparently she spoke to the nobles of Baransu a month ago to pitch her thoughts on peace. He tried to be subtle, but at every moment Akvan was looking around to try and spot her. As much as he wanted this evening to be a time to relax and have fun with his two brothers, he also wanted to at least talk to Chester. Akvan was brought out of his thoughts as Gensho came to the table. Akvan leaned over the table to pour Gensho a drink, non-alcoholic, as being the most rational of the three, Akvan didn't want Onrah and Gensho to blow their chance for peace with their usual drunken ways. Plus Akvan knew after a certain sword tossing incident that the pair needed some serious cutting back. Akvan smiled to Gensho, "Bad? Brother you destroyed it out there. Come on, the great Gensho being worried about a speech? That's like Onrah saying he hates food." Holding his own glass up, Akvan offered a cheer to his brother of Night, before looking around again, for either Onrah or Chester.

Onrah had decided before today that he going to be nothing but himself. No over-the-top manners to try and woo some Nobles, no silly over-pronunciation of words to look smart or eating painfully slow to make a good impression. No, Onrah had decided that the best way for Humans to view Demon was as they were. Onrah was looking to find a way for his kind to be accepted, and that wasn't going to happen if Demons would have to pretend to be something they're not to make an impression. And so, apart from the suit that Gensho said he would skin Onrah if the God of Death didn't wear, Onrah was his usual, messy self. He remained the quiet one as Akvan spoke to the Humans on their table. Gensho and Onrah had made sure to pick out their two favourite nobles to calm their skittish brother down a bit about being exposed to all these people. The two ladies had been the kindest, and most accepting of the nobles when the Demons had spoken, and so Onrah was certain that Akvan would be able to speak freely in front of them. Given that he needed not to concern himself about his younger brother's timidness, Onrah was able to enjoy the fizzy water Akvan had replaced their champagne with, and listen to Gensho's speech. Obviously the smoothest talker out of the three, Onrah was able to listen to the sweet words without a worry. Although, as soon as the buffet was mentioned, the only part of the Ball's preparations that Onrah had been a part of, Onrah was on the edge of his seat.
At the sound of applause at the end of Gensho's speech, Onrah gave his brother one big clap, tapped Akvan on the shoulder before rushing off towards the food tables. Onrah was made the origin of many frowns and astonished chuckles as he filled his average-sized plate with as much of every thing he could, before spotting the hog roast and going back to fill a second plate with nothing but meat. He almost soared back to the table, only arriving to hear the last of what Akvan said. "How could one hate food when it's this amazing?" He asked almost hysterically. Sliding into his seat, Onrah gestured to his food. "Look at those slices of meat, amazing how down here you can eat something that isn't pummelled into indeterminable mush. And just look at that pig over there! I'd say if they weren't currently cutting it up that the thing was still alive." Onrah rubbed his hands together, easily reaching passed Akvan to pat Gensho on the back, giving his brother a proud smile, before brutally stabbing a fork through a piece of thick meat. Taking one bite, Onrah was almost sliding down his chair at the overwhelming tastes, humming in joy. Glancing to his brothers, Onrah dished a slice of pork onto two plates, pushing them towards the boys. "Big brother is saying that you two need to eat, or else turn into actual sticks."

Gensho smiled, taking the glass and listening to Akvan. His brother even sounded more confident, going to show what pairing Akvan with the right, kind people did. Gensho chuckled, clanging his glass to Akvan's, drinking the liquid and frowning. He felt like swatting Akvan over the head for changing their drinks to something so plain, but knew what intention Akvan had when doing so. Before Gensho could say anything more, Onrah jumped over, plates full of greasy, buffet food. On normal days Gensho would be livid over his brothers behaviour. But tonight, nothing could get Gensho down, and he couldn't care about Onrah's scruff nature so long as his older brother was smiling and having fun. Just like Akvan, although Gensho's twin was at least trying to put some effort into a formal etiquette, as well as looking as though he was enjoying himself.
Gensho couldn't help but grin as Akvan's eyes moved elsewhere. He knew exactly who his brother was looking for, and personally hoped something could happen tonight. After all, this was a Ball, beautiful people in their finest clothes, an amazing night sky and romantic music. Some could say that Gensho made sure Akvan and miss. Chester were here simply to push each in the others direction. Gensho could glance to Onrah and see the same glint in his eye. And then Onrah began his speech over the fantastic food, pushing a taste of his second meal towards Gensho and Akvan. Gensho sighed, not really wanting to each such a greasy food, but knowing he'd yet to eat yet due to being Host. So Gensho gingerly took a bite, and a shiver went down his back. It really was amazing. Something so horrid and greasy could be Angelic in flavour. Who knew. Chuckling, Gensho smiled to Onrah. "Dear brother, you sound so concerned about our health, so tell me..." Gensho lifted his empty plate, "Why do we only get one measly slice?"

Akvan was sure if Onrah got the chance, he'd marry his meal. Every appetiser they'd had already tonight had been swooned over by the God of Death. At first it had been funny, but after a while, even the kind Noblewomen were rolling their eyes every time Onrah almost stood on his chair to worship his next portion. Akvan took a sip of his drink, smirking to Onrah, "Indeterminable mush? Don't let Mo hear you say that." Akvan jested, chuckling before gazing at the meat placed before him. Onrah seemed to be praising the stuff non-stop, so curiosity alone made Akvan take a bite. He had to admit, just like Gensho, that it was good. It made Akvan wonder what kind of delicious things Onrah and Gensho had tried out when exploring the culinary world of Sohul a few years back. Akvan finished the slice just after Gensho, humming in agreement as he plucked remains from his teeth.
"Yeah Onrah, if you're so concerned about us, where's our fair share?" Akvan joined in with a grin. Oh how he enjoyed spending time with the pair of Demons. Perhaps it was the fact that ever since spending time with Chester, Akvan's wall of insecurity and shyness had been dented. He still didn't like talking, but to his brothers, a side of Akvan came out. A good side, perhaps the one that would have been, if Akvan had never been granted his God powers.

Onrah looked satisfied as his two brothers dug into what could only be described as the Golden hog of Gods, smiling as Akvan brought up a point. Whilst Mo made some pretty good meals, after awhile, Onrah would find himself craving something... more. Onrah was a Demon that literally liked a bit of everything, all in one portion. He couldn't settle on just the same, plain old meal. That's why buffets served him well, all you could eat and in whatever crazy manner you felt like. Doing such a nice thing, Onrah didn't expect his brothers to suddenly turn savage on him, trying to beg for some more food. Onrah pulled his plate closer to his chest, eyeing the pair of them. Onrah held up a hand, "Now, now you two. There's a distinct difference between us." Onrah patted a hand over Akvan's head.
"I'm taller, therefore I need more to fill me up. While I don't want you both to starve and waste away, I don't want you to explode either." Onrah answered, winking to the both of them. He played nice for this once, carefully placing another slice on each plate, being snappy with his fingers like feeding hungry dragons. Onrah sighed, taking a bite from his own significantly larger portion. "You know, I do worry about you two. I'm the big brother, it's kinda my job..." Onrah glanced to the pair, smiling as he wrapped a long arm around both of them, "I wanna make sure if anything happens to me, my two favourite brothers will be fine, won't starve themselves to death because they suck at anything to do with proper nutrition." Onrah gave them both a long, sincere smile, before returning both arms around his meat plate. "But when the food is this good, big brother Onrah not likely to be so generous."

Maybe Gensho was starting to understand what interested Onrah so much about this kind of food. The grease wasn't as intoxicating as the God of Night had thought, in fact, it just added to the succulent flavours of the meat. Gensho was thirsty for another taste, as was Akvan by the sounds of it. With two young brothers staring down his meal like hawks, Onrah tried to come up with some sort of excuse to keep the two at bay. It wouldn't work, but for a moment Gensho was silent. It sounded like something was behind Onrah's excuse, his concern for both Gensho and Akvan. It seemed so real, Gensho just couldn't place a reason for it. He ended up dropping his gaze, leaning on Akvan's shoulder as Onrah smiled to them both.
"We're not kids anymore Onrah, I know you like to consider us as the young Gods you'd once adopted, but brother... we're fine." Gensho glanced to Akvan, wrapping his arm around the God of Disease's neck, "We will be fine, I'm sure. With a big brother to look over us, I'd say we're the luckiest Demons alive, all things considered." Gensho admitted. He smiled just as sincerely as Onrah, before slowly snaking a hand towards the meat plate. Hand pouncing forwards, Gensho snatched a good handful from Onrah's plate, fleeting back to his own chair to eat before the big brother got a chance to retaliate.

Akvan chuckled as things developed further. But as Gensho went quiet, so did Akvan. Onrah had done so much for the pair that they couldn't think of any words to come back with, despite believing all Onrah was saying was just to save his food from scavengers. But eventually, Gensho spoke up, and Akvan smiled slightly. He was still insecure, despite all he'd been told, there were still people out there with a serious grudge against Akvan, and no kind words to reassure him, were going to make them forgive the God. To Akvan, he needed his brothers, for as long as he was stuck with this job, or forever if he could. Gensho and Onrah had made themselves parts of Akvan, having formed him into the Demon he was now, losing them would be like losing himself. But Akvan smiled through the idea of either Gensho or Onrah disappearing, knowing it was a silly thought to keep pestering his mind.
An opportunity came forth to bring Akvan back to the fun reality, as Gensho went and succeeded in grabbing a few slices from Onrah's plate. Akvan followed suite, taking a good chunk of what Onrah had as the big brother moved to get what Gensho had stolen back. Akvan almost swallowed down what he'd stolen, so much that it almost hurt his stomach. But he couldn't stop the laughter as Onrah was double crossed by the twins, all in good fun of course. But to the reddening face of Onrah, perhaps it was less so.

There was a break in Onrah smile for a split second, listening to Gensho's gratitude to the God of Death. But with a sigh, Onrah's usual smile returned, glancing to Akvan to make sure the small Demon was still enjoying himself. It was rare to see his little brother smile, and to see Akvan happy now of all days meant a great deal to Onrah. The Demon God was just about to lose the tension in his arms around the meat plate, until the sneaky God of Night managed to snake his way in, taking a good quarter of the pile. Onrah slammed his hand down to just miss Gensho as he stole the food, and got up quickly to walk round and force Gensho to release the food. But in the process, an equally sneaky God of Disease took even more, and almost inhaled the food to make sure Onrah didn't get any back. Looking left to right, Onrah's red face eventually calmed down, finding himself laughing as well.
"Sneaky buggers like you two are going to do just fine in this world without me." Onrah muttered, waiting for the two jackals to finish their meals before wrapping his arms around their necks. "I love you two, don't forget it... even though you spend every opportunity to try and piss me off." Onrah stated, sighing before grabbing his almost empty plate. He waved it a little. "I'll be over near the buffet, where I know I can eat forever without my food being stolen, Gensho... that was a real good speech brother, you'll do our race proud with that ideal of yours." Onrah said with a smile. Before he turned to head for the buffet, Onrah set a hand gently over Akvan's shoulder. "And Akvan, you know, you surprise me every day. And I've seen a lot in this world, despite my pretty, young face. Keep surprising me, and don't forget to smile some more, it suits you."
Sharing a glance with the pair of brothers once more, almost like Onrah was trying to paint a picture of their faces in his mind, the God of Death finally turned and headed for the buffet table. His stomach turned towards food, but his heart remained thinking of his two wonderful brothers, and how lucky he'd been to have them in his life.

Gensho almost acted like a dog as he wolfed the food down, making sure by the time Onrah made it over, he'd have to pull it from Gensho's throat to have any of the food back. Smirking, Gensho felt so proud as Akvan also tricked the older Demon, getting a small round of applause from Gensho. Onrah looked ready to burst for a moment, before suddenly calming down, and bringing both Gensho and Akvan into the usual, Onrah-style crushing hugs. Coughing, Gensho shook his head is disbelief over his hilarious older brother, before frowning as Onrah again brought up the idea of disappearing. Gensho still couldn't put sense to it, other than perhaps assuming Onrah snuck in a drink of something stronger when at the buffet table. Onrah seemed to bounce from solemn glances to friendly smiles, and it kind of put Gensho on edge. He'd have to ask his brother to explain later, or ask Onrah where he hid the secret alcohol supply.
But as Onrah left, Gensho let out a sigh, before turning to Akvan. "No one can understand that man, and I doubt any number of years will get us any closer to finding out either." Gensho jested, smiling to Akvan. The God thought of something, eventually pivoting himself, and Akvan around towards the bottom right corner of the Ballroom. "Table 34, bottom right corner of the Room, next to the fountain. That's Chester's table. Now go have fun, Akvan, try your hardest to make this night memorable for yourself."

Akvan laughed as his and Gensho plan went sweetly, both of them able to enjoy the tastes of victory as Onrah heated up between them. But, like a light, Onrah calmed down and smiled. It seemed odd for his mood to change so easily, but Akvan couldn't judge Onrah. The happiest Demon in the world was known for random mood swings, and he was never upset for more than a few seconds. Akvan almost choked in Onrah's grasp, but his big brothers words took Akvan's full attention. Akvan thought it was another one of Onrah jokes, until the Demon took a hold of Akvan's shoulder, looking the God right in the eye. He spoke so firmly, and with a solemn look on his face. Akvan couldn't help but feel as if he didn't want Onrah to go away, even though it was only to the buffet table, not a few metres away. Akvan shook away the strange feeling, letting Gensho have his attention.
He couldn't help but feel as though his brother wanted Akvan to go run off to Chester. It had been embarrassing enough hearing that Gensho had spoken to Chester about him, let alone Akvan being ushered closer and closer to Chester by his brother. Gensho was a romantic guy, but even as his twin, Akvan was nothing like the God of Night. He couldn't handle the pressure of liking someone like Gensho could, despite Gensho's counselling. But, although all of that was in his mind, Akvan also wanted desperately to go over and see Chester. He missed her, like he'd said last time, and thought now in a Ball would be a better place to meet her again. Previous meetings had't been in the best of places, but this place, it was perfect. Taking a deep breath, Akvan gave Gensho a grateful glance before carefully weaving his way around people to go search for his friend.
