Ranks:
All characters are given a rank, out of 10 stars. The higher the rank, the stronger the character is. Original characters, (not Demon Gods or Angel Guardians), cannot exceed a 5 star rank when joining. To improve your rank further, you must either buy the next rank from the shop, or be gifted with the next rank after frequent activity or successful IC fights. (e.g. an Admin can reward you with a the next rank after your character succeeds to defeat a monster or player vs player fight). The rank system works loosely around defining how strong your character is, and how this will affect combat threads.
The rank system works like a ladder, you cannot skip ranks. So for example, you cannot buy a 7 Star rank from the shop when you are only at 5 Stars.
Combat:
Here in Destiny, combat threads are Role-Played out like any other thread, and do not follow particular rules or restrictions. We don't want to stop players from feeling too contained, and so the combat system is very simple and flexible.
Combat threads can one of two things:
-NPC fight
-Player vs Player fight
An NPC fight is a thread started by an admin NPC. The thread will start with a run through of the situation, and stats on what the enemy would be. Example:
A combat thread like this can be joined by anyone, but only those above or at a 3 star rank will be able to defeat the enemy. Here at Destiny, we are very lax and flexible about combat though, so even at a rank below the enemy rank, there is always a chance of winning, but it would be harder than for someone at a higher rank.
A Player vs Player fight is usually discussed amongst the participants, so the detail of the fight are usually up to the players. However, if a fight does occur that the participants cannot decide the winner of, then an Admin can be called to assess the fight and decide a winner. Like all combats, the characters rank should affect how well they fight. Obviously, characters fighting at a similar rank will struggle and have longer fights. But a fight between a 3 star rank and an 8 star rank, for example, it should be obvious who would be the winner. Again, flexibility applies, and a low ranked character can win against a higher ranked character if the participants decide it, but the odds should be very low.
