Name: Jasper Misiah 'Jazz'
Age: 21
Gender: Boy
Race: Human
Job: Leader of the Saints, a group of elite Humans, and the strongest line of defence for the race's survival.
Rank: 5 stars
Appearance: Jasper is an averaged sized young man. Not too muscular, nor too skinny and small. He is incredibly average. But his appearance is all that appears normal about Jasper. His eyes are a deep, piercing Green, and his hair a pitch black, thick but only covering up to his neck. His expression is always serious, never changing. Jasper wears his uniform at most times, it being a dark, buttoned jacket and pants, with thick soled boots. Often, the uniform also includes a hat and cape, but Jasper is more reluctant to wear anything beyond the simple getup, unless his title depends on his appearance. To show his rank as leader, Jasper has a small, golden badge. It depicts a shield, overlapped by a hand-print.
A part of Jasper's appearance rarely seen, are his Curses. Jasper currently has three separate curses acting on his body, more about their nature is revealed in his Magic. But their appearance goes like this:
-Ardebit: This curse takes a faint red appearance, and looks like some sort of distorted flame, and covers from Jasper's shoulders to his jawline.
-Sanabit: This curse takes a faded green appearance. It appears as three rings around Jasper's forearms.
-Fortibit: This curse appears as faint, dark spikes, that appear around either Jasper's arms or legs, depending on where it is used.
Personality: Jasper is pretty quiet, one would be when made a captain of such a highly admired team at his age. But Jasper didn't get his position for being a nervous teenager. Sure, he's quiet, but Jasper is very clever and calculating. He never acts without thinking, and can easily enforce his orders on his subordinates. But, Jasper knows that he is in charge, but he doesn't always like to order others around. He sees everyone on his team as a friend, and treats them with respect.
Jasper agrees with the idea that Demons and Angels need to be eliminated for the future of Humans and true peace. But his hatred doesn't cloud Jasper's morals like it might do for others. He believes in justice, and honour, despite his questionable magic. And Jasper won't kill mercilessly, nor will he fight someone defenceless. However, there comes times from Jasper to kill, and he usually does do with apology to his target, for he knows what a painful death he brings.
Likes: His friends and team-mates, peace, protecting others, creating a good future.
Dislikes: Curses, the future as it stands, unwillingness, laziness, dying friends, killing.
Weapons: Jasper's magic is enough to carry him through many battles, but it costs time to cast, and in that time Jasper could face death. So he carries a sword with him at all times. It itself isn't cursed like most that comes with Jasper, but the sword is designed to channel curses well, so that Jasper can send his magic into other from a simple cut or more.
Magic: Curse Magic: Much more complex than it sounds, and a magic forced onto Jasper by his 'protector' years ago. Since becoming a officer, Jasper has trained his magic to it's maximum capabilities, learning from ancient books how speech works best, especially for such a strange and puzzling magic like Curse magic. There are three types of Curse magic, increasing in power, and in sacrifice.
Third Tier: Combat Curses.
These kinds of Curses are simple ones, that can be used to make minor attacks on an opponent. They don't need to be in contact with a target to be used, Jasper can cast them on the ground or onto his sword. All it requires is a sacrifice of blood from Jasper, the quantity of blood doesn't affect the strength of the curse however.
-Flambit: A fire curse, places a curse on a surface, and spits an eruption of flames from it.
-Petrabit: An earth curse, it causes a small quake where Jasper places the curse, which can cause small ravines to open, or rock to fly upwards.
-Jumpbit: A propelling curse. Jasper creates a small magic circle, and can jump on it to leap great distances. Each blood sacrifice can offer five Jumpbit curses before it runs out.
Second Tier: Direct Curses.
These Curses directly affect Jasper's target, and must be transferred by hand, or by sword. They affect an enemy physically, and because they are stronger than Third tier, they cost more to cast. Each casting costs a part of Jasper's senses. For example, casting a Second Tier curse will slightly reduce Jasper's eyesight, or his hearing. Currently, Jasper has lost hearing in one ear, and cannot feel much with his left hand as it's senses have been numbed.
-Venebit: A poison Curse, it wraps itself around the targets stomach, causing immense pain and vomiting, because of the pain, the target is virtually immobilized, though their own will or strength may offer some movement.
-Caebit: A blinding curse, it affects the targets eyes, blocking all sight for any time between ten minutes to an hour.
-Vulnubit: A wounding curse, it causes multiple cuts to appear on the body of the target. The cuts aren't deep, but cause a lot of blood lost and pain. This is the curse Jasper uses often to ensure the death of his opponent, if it comes to that, and Vulnubit is probably Jasper's most deadly curse.
First Tier: Personal Curses.
These are Curses directly placed on Jasper's body, that in enhances his physical body beyond that of a normal Human. Unlike his other curses, these ones are permanent, and as such are much stronger than his other curses and cost a lot more. The cost for these curses comes directly from Jasper's life force, and each one knocks of ten years of Jasper's life, as well as possibly leaving him in pain after use.
-Ardebit: A burning curse, the one curse Jasper didn't add on his own initiative. It makes his skin burning hot to anyone who touches it, meaning Jasper cannot form too close a bond with someone, or else leave them burnt. It could of course be used in combat, but Jasper loathes the curse too much to use it.
-Sanabit: A healing curse, that slowly recovers any wounds inflicted on Jasper. The curse is the least straining on Jasper's body, as it's purpose is to remove pain. However, even though it can remove even the most fatal of wounds, it comes at a cost. Beyond the sacrifice of some of his lifespan, whilst healing, Jasper is locked in place, going into some sort of sleep state as he heals. He's trained himself enough to keep his eyes open and sometimes talk whilst healing, but beyond that, Jasper cannot move when Sanabit is active.
-Fortibit: A strengthening curse. It makes Jasper virtually indestructible for a few minutes, as well as pushing physical boundaries in terms of strength. It grants Jasper super strength, in either his arms or legs. But after use, it causes spasms in the muscles that lasts for a few minutes, but are excruciatingly painful, and easily immobilise Jasper if Fortibit is used too excessively.
History: Jasper Seredia Yon Victor. Born to the Yon Victor noble family, the highest ranked Nobles around. They were basically the rulers of the Human race, being in charge over all Noble's choices and laws, and the first in line for creating peace or war. However, on the surface, the family was kind and generous. They lived for the people, not for themselves. But only a Yon Victor could know what the family was really like on the inside. Jasper was born amongst many other heirs, so far down the line that his life was meaningless beyond being a toy to pose before the people and bring happiness and most importantly, money to the family. Jasper was only a baby at the time, but once born, a mysterious person approached the house. They were wearing completely clean, rich and noble clothes. A young, charismatic man who seemed to be at the Noble estate to offer his congratulations on the new addition. Batt Yon Victor, Jasper's father and highest Noble of the family seemed curious, but accepted the man's blessing. And that was when the mysterious man offered Batt a deal. He said that he had a lot of money in his Nobility, but no family to share it with, his wife had passed away, and he was without son or any heir to take his place. This, Lycost Misiah was looking to buy the Yon Victor's newest addition.
Any normal family would easily refuse to sell away their new born son, but the Yon Victor's saw this as an opportunity for more than one reason. They could receive money from the trade, as well as loyalty from the Misiah Noble family, if Lycost really was a noble as he claimed to be. And so, before Jasper could even know anything was different, he was handed over to Lycost. As suspicious as the whole situation seemed to be, Lycost was a kind and caring parent. He raised Jasper as if the boy had always been his own, and for a few good long years, neither side of that shady deal seemed to receiving any regrets or bad luck from it.
Life went on so easily, Jasper loved the simple life living in his father's small house, unaware of what Lycost did as a living or anything. If his father really was a noble, then Jasper was never told, or even aware of it. But Lycost never acted like he was keeping secrets, always there for Jasper when the boy was in need of help, keeping him well and fed. Teaching Jasper to read and write, letting him have whatever toys he wanted, and even tried to help the boy unlock his magic. Even as the boy was only a baby, Lycost spent everything he could on making sure that during the hard times of sickness and Pandemic, Jasper didn't succumb to the illness. In fact, Lycost adored little Jasper, the boy was his everything in life. Though things didn't remain the same. One day as they walked through districts of Baransu, Jasper gestured towards some run down, old mansion. Lycost looked towards it, before looking down to his son.
He explained that the house was once owned by a very rich Noble family, but they were cruel, and blinded by money and reputation. That greed drove the family into sickness beyond the pandemic years ago, and retribution hit the family as they all experienced major losses in support and money. In the end, the Noble family was drawn into living in the poorest districts, alone and without support, or anyone to remember them. Saying no more, the pair moved on, Jasper observing the sign that was worn down at the front of the abandoned estate: 'Yon Victor Estate'.
It was when Jasper was 13 that it was becoming clear to Jasper that something about his happy life was strange. Lycost would leave for a day or two to work, but all around, Jasper's neighbours never knew what the kind and friendly man even did. And so, one night when Lycost left to 'work', Jasper followed him. Lycost seemed to make a beeline for the rich district of Baransu, using some sort of magic to enter the home of a rich families. Jasper didn't follow him, not until he hear a commotion inside. Crashes and muffled screams. Jasper rushed inside, seeing Lycost with a hand on a woman's neck, sending some sort of strange magic into her body that made it rip apart and bleed heavily. Jasper couldn't believe what he was seeing, and was frozen by how Lycost reacted to having his son witness this. Lycost had sighed. "Well... I was hoping to keep you for a little longer, Jasper, you were very entertaining." And as Lycost put down the dead woman, shadows appeared over his back, revealing a pair of dark wings and a black tail. Jasper was terrified, to the point of losing consciousness from the shock and sight of blood. But instead he ran, straight out of the house and into the night. As Lycost followed him, the now revealed Demon was stopped. It seemed like officers from Baransu's Guard force were aware of the Demon's nightly actions, and had this all set as a opportunity to catch Lycost. Jasper stopped running to see his 'father' fight off the officers. He did well, but took one too many injuries from the fight. In the end, Lycost managed to kill all the officers, holding his bleeding stomach as he looked to Jasper with a expression mixed with anger, and with sorrow. Lycost struggled, running off quickly in a different direction, leaving Jasper to stare at nothing, trying to come to terms with what he'd seen, and how his life had just been shattered.
He eventually ran home, to cry the night away and panic over what he'd left to do with life now. Or question what life even was. Getting inside, it was obvious from the trail of blood who was also here. Lycost had collapsed against a wall, unable to get up. He seemed dead, until his eyes looked up to Jasper, chuckling at the teary eyed boy.
"You look... so pathetic." Lycost spatted, coughing some more. Jasper could reply, or even speak. So Lycost guessed what the boy wanted to know. "Yes... It's all been a lie. You're not mine, you're just some lousy noble kid I decided to keep as a pet... And what am I? I'm a Demon. Lycost, otherwise known as the Noble curse." Lycost was in fact, much older than he looked, he'd placed a Curse on himself to halt his ageing. For hundreds of years, Lycost had been punishing Human Nobility for his own amusement, or to get revenge for something in the past. He'd done so by cursing Noble families. Given them sickness, early death, issues conceiving heirs, all of the issues that Noble families seem to struggle with more than normal families was induced by Lycost, and Lycost alone. "Does that make you sad? Like I care... you've been nothing to me... just some game to entertain me, nothing more."
Jasper was crying heavily, dragging himself toward Lycost to knell down by the dying Demon. "I don't need your pathetic tears, kid. You should feel sorry for yourself." Lycost growled, before smiling weakly. "All I've done to other nobles... your punishment is the worst. For all your little life, you'll live coated in Demon blood... burning to touch, and forever under Demon control... And it isn't all." Lycost would have finished, but he began coughing up blood. Jasper didn't know if he could believe what the Demon said, but he still felt suffering as his father was so much pain. Lycost groaned, taking a few last breaths. Once he was sure nothing could happen, Jasper leaned in closer, hugging his father. Lycost chuckled weakly, "Such a... pathetic little kid." Lycost muttered, before saying no more. Jasper's tears dropped as he listened to the last beats of Lycost's heart. For now, he didn't care who Lycost really was, what he'd put Jasper through, and what he'd make Jasper suffer with for the rest of his life. Right now, Jasper only remembered the kind and happy man, the father who only ever cared for his son, who taught Jasper everything. Eventually, after falling asleep on his father's body, Jasper woke up and decided to move. He noticed a book that his father had taken before dying, still held under Lycost's arm. It was ancient, but translated underneath. It was instructions to some sort of ancient magic, Curse magic. After reading, Jasper recognised some parts, almost crying again. The Curse Lycost had placed on Jasper was included... so it really was true.
After a few days of mourning, burying the body and discovering that the Curse placed on Jasper had also carried across Lycost's magic. And that after trying a few spells, Jasper could easily cast curses. For a long time, Jasper wandered around, empty of emotions, as an Exorcist, hating the Demon that had cursed him. Not his father, but the Demon that also lived in that body. In that day and age, Exorcists didn't do too well, whilst King Exitium was ruling. And so Jasper's real opportunity came just after the Demon King was taken down, and Humans began to notice even more how much hatred they had for the sky races. Nobles opened up a job opportunity for a new league of officers. The Saints. Jasper was quick to ask for a position. Most Nobles laughed, until one older Noble asked about the faint red marks on Jasper's back. He then explained his story, how he'd been cursed by a Demon to never be able to touch anyone else. The Nobles were suddenly all in agreement, if there was anyone with the heart trained for hating Demons, and perhaps even Angels with enough influence, then it was Jasper. They kept him in secret training for a while, in which Jasper was 'encouraged' to add more Curses to himself, before giving him the highest rank of the Saints. Jasper remained quiet for a few months, but as more have joined, Jasper finds himself opening up to people a little more. Perhaps he'd never be 'normal' when raised in the life he'd had, but Jasper feels like the life he currently leads, with his new 'family' just shows how hopeful and strong Humans can be.
