This had never happened before. Neko was always a strong little cat, living down in Sohul alone. Kaku had never even worried for his friend, the feline had lived with nine lives still hanging over him for years now. Neko never found himself in danger, and because of it, Kakushin never worried. And Neko over the last few years had made a name for himself. A travelling medic, around the same level of skill as Nanari, only without her magic ability. Neko travelled to long reached, poorer places and helped people there. So he wasn't around often, but Kakushin had never been against that. For too long Neko had to follow around Kaku, looking after the reckless Angel through all the mood swings of his life. It was only fair that for once, Neko could walk on his own paws and explore the world. But it was one of the days that Neko returned to more central areas, spending some time in Baransu. The King and his cat had organised to meet when the sun was in the middle of the sky, and at Neko's part-time residence. The feline even had his own house now.
But it was when Kaku had walked over to Neko's house, seeing the broken glass and ruptured door, that he felt the panic he'd never really felt for Neko before. Inside was a wreck, more than the usual mess Neko left it in. Things were broken everywhere, and there was a note, a note made specifically for Kaku to tell him where to go. A trap, obviously. Kakushin knew not everyone liked Angels or Demons, perhaps the latter was treated more often with unkindness, but it did surprise Kakushin that someone had gone to the trouble of learning the connection Neko and Kaku had, just to get the King to go somewhere. And in the middle of Rycora, an empty land of nothing but trees and rock. Kaku's instructions were to head to the mountain range of Rycora, and to head there as soon as he got the note, the writer had made it clear that they didn't like cats, and would get pretty bored if left hanging. Kakushin was swift to land, almost slamming down on the rocks as he looked forward at something he didn't like.

It would seem luck finally presented itself to Banto's life. And it was about time too. Not a few days after agreeing happily to Vadium's deal concerning Angel blood, Banto had found the lead he'd been searching for. During another round of running between Banto and the trigger-happy officers of Baransu's rich district, a civilian had been caught in the shoulder by one of the police's gunfire. Banto had carried the unlucky bastard to a quieter bit, planning on taking the wounded man straight to Vadium for the crazy doctor to 'help' with the guy's wounds, and also to kindly offer Vadium a few fresh supplies that their unlucky friend could live without. But someone had got in the way. Not someone to arrest Banto, but to save the man himself. The guy looked young, but certainly wasn't Human when Banto caught a glance at his tail. Banto had reluctantly helped carry the injured man to this strangers house, where the tailed stranger explained who he was. Banto's reluctant glare soon turned into a grin. The man called himself Neko, a magic cat who could transform... And who also knew the Angel king very closely, as Banto carefully asked for more information through chatting. That day, Banto had left Neko be, preparing a plan for the next day. And thus, Banto returned the next day, pretending to care about the condition of their unfortunate friend. He didn't dawdle in this false friendliness for long. As soon as the cat was in his normal form, Banto had snapped his little neck. Able to carry the lifeless little cat easily away, Banto left his note for the King, and took his short trip to Rycora mountains using his portals. Once there, Banto tied ropes around the cat's legs, and waited for Neko to wake up. "Might have wasted one of those precious lives of yours cat, but I wasn't about to drag some struggling little monster all the way here." Banto said once the cat was fully woken up, neck fixed by the fortunate natural power of magic cats, all with literal nine lives. The waiting Banto was prepared for, he spent it going from looking to the skies, to glaring at the feline, who'd remained mute ever since being killed once. Banto, did of course get bored, patience was something Banto was forced to have from his prison time, but he still seeked entertainment. After setting up everything for the main event, Banto sat back down, pulling Neko closer. "You know, I really hate cats. You all stink, think of yourselves so highly, it reminds me of furry little versions of the flying relics still crawling over this world. But magic cats, you guys just have it so easy. Nine whole times you can fuck up and still be fine." Banto began saying, staring at the cat's bold, emotionless glare. He chuckled, "I wonder how many times I can break that tiny neck of yours, before you start to look at least a little concerned for your life." Banto muttered, holding down hard on Neko's neck before hearing someone approach. Banto was up in his feet, dropping the cat like a rock and picking up his sword instead. A smile was over his face, and Banto just knew things were about to get fun. "Welcome, your highness... you know, you don't look like much for someone all the idiots seem to adore so much. Kinda pathetic looking, just like this damn cat." And with that, Banto lifted a foot, aiming to stamp right down on the cat's head, and of course preparing a portal right under his feet for what would inevitably come from trying so.

Kakushin was having trouble believing this. He'd assumed, hoped, that this was just a last spark of one of Exitium's followers, attempting to bring down the one who helped end the reign of their leader. But to see a Human, Kaku just didn't understand. He knew not everyone liked Angels, but especially after Baransu, Kaku had assumed things were getting on more equal terms now. And this man, barely matured, looked far gone from any kind of mercy. He didn't look the part to show it, or look for it. Was he looking for a suicide fight? Asking to meet the strongest Angel he could get to have one last fight? Or was this crazed man looking to take down the Angels from the inside? Kakushin didn't know, and he was about to reply to the man, before realising there was no time to try and speak or reason with. Not as the Human went to step on Neko's head. Kakushin drew his blade in a heartbeat, glad he'd yet to find someone to take over Guardian of Peace, and therefore still able to use it's paralysing power freely. As crazy as this man was, and how he was about to murder Neko, Kakushin wouldn't kill. With his Peace magic, Kaku could fight at full without holding back. Kakushin charged towards the man, aiming down at his leg to hope to knock him back and at least get the chance to get Neko away. Whether his attack hit or miss, once Kaku was close enough, he defended with his wings and grabbed Neko quickly under one arm. Looking quickly to wherever the attacker was, Kaku knew that this fight wasn't necessary, at least not for the King. And so, Kakushin took the chance to fly straight up, hoping for a quick get away before being dragged into a fight that he didn't care for.

Banto's grin increased for the millisecond of time he got to watch Kakushin begin to attack. Banto had no intention on messing his boot up over crushing some cat, it was all to get the King to move first. And move he did, Banto had expected fast, but this was lightening speed. It wasn't fast enough to catch Banto however, who activated his portal right beneath his feet, teleporting the criminal a few feet away. Landing, Banto turned and looked up, smirking. "Get the cat back and run huh? Little rude, I went to a lot of trouble to get you here." Banto muttered, holding his hand forward and creating a portal in front of himself. Then pointing up with his free hand, Banto got ready. First he put his sword away, replacing it with a smaller dagger. He then threw the knife towards the portal, and just before it hit the surface of magic, Banto made a second portal linked to it, directly above Kakushin as he flew away. Banto chuckled, watching the King's reaction to it. A hit or not, Kaku would be forced to land from the change in flight, so Banto got his sword ready, teleporting to a different location so that his prey didn't know where he was hiding.

Kakushin didn't look down, only concentrating on getting Neko's restraints off. "Neko! Are you alright? What happened?" Kakushin asked, pulling them both further away from this unnecessary conflict. Neko groaned a little, healed from whatever had been done to him, but still rather traumatised by it. "I'm fine... it was never me he was after. Kaku I'd be careful if- Look up!" Neko stared right up, and when Kakushin went to look what had the cat so afraid, it was too late to dodge fully. It was like looking up to the sky was showing a picture of what was below them, and looking up all Kaku saw was the man grinning as he threw a knife towards this strange portal. And then the knife flew down towards Kaku, without a moment for the Angel King to properly react. All Kaku could do was move a little to the side, but the knife caught easily in Kaku's wing, making a clean gash that meant Kaku either landed, or crashed. Stumbling to the ground, Kaku winced as he moved the wing to check the damage. Neko seemed deeply upset by the cut through part of Kakushin's wing, crimson red beginning to merge into the pure white feathers. "All... all of my hard work." Neko muttered. Kaku had to hide his wings, they hurt to move, and if left out, he knew this bold enemy of his would use that pain to his advantage over the King. Taking a few breaths, Kaku looked around. "Alright... you have your fight." Kaku called out to the empty surrounding, sensing their friend was sneaking around close-by. "I don't want to do this, fighting isn't the only way to solve things. But you've hurt my friend, and clearly don't want to just surrender this fight. So I will apologise now for what I'm forced to do."
Kaku got his sword ready again, shining white with Peace magic as Kaku charged up an attack the moment he spotted movement. There wouldn't be any playing around if Kaku could help it, he'd wanted this to end before it had even began, and now thanks to the injured wing, Kaku was drawn into this pointless fight. Kaku heard the use of magic close by, and noticed a small part of one of the man's portals showing behind rocks to Kaku's left. The Angel didn't wait, aiming his sword towards the rocks before shooting the charged up blast of Peace magic towards it.

Banto didn't watch his attack, only glancing towards the Angel King as he fell back down onto the fighting grounds. One of his wings had been torn, it produced blood, but not enough for Banto to use. And it wasn't likely that Banto could even get at the blood sample with Kakushin now agitated. No, he needed to continue with the plan he was already working towards. Now that the King was accepting that there was no way to avoid this battle, Banto could show him just how capable Humans could be. Banto opened up some more portals, about to step into one when he heard the hum of magic. Just as the explosion hit the area Banto was going to teleport to, he closed it off before it caught him inside, remaining at a different location. Banto summoned a portal at his feet, warping more towards the open area where the King was firing from. "Apologise? Of course." Banto growled, "You Angels, thinking of yourselves as so high and mighty, so much stronger than any simple Human could be. But look." Banto smirked, pointing his sword towards Kakushin. "You've already lost the ability to fly away, and that's just about the only thing you had against me. Now? You're nothing more than a grounded idiot, firing wildly and hoping to stop me because your super strong magic should easily be enough." Banto glanced around the playing field, knowing how much of an advantage he had over this fool. Banto had time to prepare, to set up portals, keeping them hidden until Banto needed to summon them. "My name is Banto Mondai, a name I'd recommend remembering from now on. And I'd like to apologise, for what I've been waiting so long to do." Banto added finally, pulling out a simple pistol from his jacket. He didn't aim towards Kakushin, rather to his side, right into a portal. Banto fired once, sending the bullet flying through the portal and to a different place. The bullet was teleported directly to the top of the nearest jagged tooth of the mountain, to hit right into the loosely held rocks that sat on top of it. One bullet was all it took for the rocks to be broken, and cause a rock slide. As they feel, Banto put away his gun, pointing his hand over towards the mini mountain as the rocks feel, summoning a portal to collect them. From that portal, Banto opened up another one right above the King, so that the rocks would begin raining down towards him, rather than down the mountain a hundred feet away.

Kakushin had almost expected his attack to miss. This guy wasn't just any idiot trying to win over the Angel King, he'd planned this. And so to see his foe simply appear before him, Kaku didn't react beyond a glare. Keeping Neko tucked back and as far from the man's range, Kakushin listened. So this was a grudge of some kind. It had been a while since Humans reason for hating Angels or Demons was simply for their entire existence, and so Kaku was surprised, but he didn't view Banto any less than some crazed man looking for pointless conflict. Kaku almost felt a spark of interest. If this fight was merely Banto trying to show that Humans could be stronger than Angels, then perhaps it would alright to enlighten him on how wrong it was to try and prove that by challenging a King. Almost smiling, Kaku nodded his head. "Well Banto Mondai, now that you consider us on equal grounds," Quite literally, "Why don't you-" Kakushin stopped as he saw the gun come out, expecting it to be fired towards him, but instead watching Banto's imaginative magic work again. This was what could be considered a mastery of magic. Even something so simple like portals and teleportation, it seemed as though Banto knew how his magic could be used in every possible sense. Kakushin looked up in time to see the rocks coming this time, able to dodge out of their way as they fell. They were easy enough to dodge, being so slow at falling, and Kaku wondered where Banto was aiming to go with this attack, other than making Kaku dance below a rocky rain.

Banto was enjoying the show, watching the Angel king dance below Banto's attack. No way to attack, or to be attacked. Despite the issue currently falling on him, Kakushin seemed ready for Banto to jump under the heavy rain to try and catch him. So Banto couldn't just look for an opportunity to strike whilst the rocks were falling. Besides, it was all going to Banto's plan. Since Kakushin had made it clear he would attack any portal Banto made, this rocky rain was simply to give Banto the chance to warp around without having to worry about a light blast burning his hair off. Banto began running, gaining as much speed as he could by circling around the king and his area of the vertical rock slide. Finally, just as the rocks stopped falling, and Kakushin could get an attack on Banto, the man pointed and opened up a portal right under the King's feet, then up to the air to connect that portal to another one made in the sky above. Without flight, Kakushin couldn't avoid the teleport circle, and so was warped up into the sky to fall. Meanwhile, Banto opened another portal in front of himself, running right into it to catapult himself right into another portal in the sky, aimed right at Kakushin. The result, a falling King, and enough momentum to fire Banto and his sword right towards it. Banto flew with his sword forwards, wondering if this would be the end of the plan, or if the King deserved his title or not.

There were a lot of rocks, but it was all easy to avoid. Perhaps Kakushin could even get out of the rockfall if his wings were still an option. But Kakushin was getting an idea about his opponent now. Banto seemed to have a plan for this entire fight, and based of his reasoning for it, Kakushin wasn't all that surprised. But Kakushin didn't think too much on it, he kept an eye out for Banto, which was hard to do when dodging all the rocks and keeping Neko close. Once the rock-slide calmed down, Kakushin looked around for Banto. The sneaky guy had moved somewhere else after running around during the rain. Before Kakushin could move to find him, the ground below seemed to open up. That was how it felt. One moment Kakushin seemed to drop, the next he was falling out of the sky, a good way up in the air. Falling down, Kakushin knew his wings could only soften the impact now, but his main concern came flying towards him. Kakushin heard the hum of another portal, and raised his sword arm to block Banto's attack. The impact knocked Kaku's course towards the side of a mountain tooth. Though Kakushin took the chance with his opponent close, using his combat skill to attack even when falling. Kakushin grabbed Banto's arm, managing to throw the Human down and away, hoping Banto would be just as distracted with defending himself from the falls impact as Kakushin needed to be. Kakushin braced himself, the mountain side was closer than the ground below, so he hit it sooner, but it still hurt a bit as Kakushin crashed down with his back against the hard rock.

Since Banto already planned to do something after this attack was bound to fail, he was expecting it when Kakushin blocked his sword and knocked the Human back. Banto smirked as he went plummeting down. He'd have to take the damage. Taking any time to soften his fall would mean losing the precious time needed to act. So Banto just had to hope whatever broke as he fell was fixable and cheap enough to be covered by this gift he was about to delivery to Vadium. As he fell, Banto made sure to aim a tiny bit of magic to the wall that Kakushin feel back against, subtle enough for the King to miss seeing. Landing hard and crashing along the ground, Banto just made sure his head was protected. Coughing a little, Banto couldn't care about what injuries he had from the fall, only setting his sights on the Angel King propped up against the wall of the mountain side. Smiling, Banto took a breath, pointing to the ground next to him to open up another portal. It connected to the one Banto had aimed behind Kakushin on the wall, as Banto had fallen. Banto didn't take any time, taking the knife from his belt, aiming it before stabbing it down into the portal. The knife would be teleported, right from this portal on the ground to the one behind Kakushin's back, which was where the blade would end up. Noticing that he'd struck the King from how the knife resisted a bit, Banto smiled, and spoke into the portal. "I made sure to miss your vitals, so consider this me sparing your life, your majesty. For someone so mighty, a wound like that should heal easily. But the wound on your pride, and the wound I've inflicted on the bond between our races, will never heal so easily... Oh, and good job doing what you were forced to do." Banto hissed, knowing his words would travel through the portal to the King's ears. Banto removed the knife, now coating in the red, liquid gold Banto was looking for, and quickly closed up the portals. Moving blood from knife to tube would have to wait until Banto was safely away. So taking one last glance into the distance where the King was still crashed on the side of the mountain, Banto teleported away.

Kakushin would have felt a lot better with his wings. He'd lost the ability to fly without thinking how much he needed it right now. Because Banto's magic seemed to be designed to act against those without means to avoid them. Kakushin was helpless to all the portals Banto opened up, because it was the Angel's wings that gave him the edge at dodging attacks. Kakushin looked down and watched the crazed man simply fall, giving no regard to his softer Human body as Banto crashed along the ground. He was a lot tougher than Kakushin had given him credit for, but it didn't look like the harsh fall didn't at least injure Banto. Kakushin only had a moment to try and move, before hearing the hum of a portal behind him when it was too late to act. The sharp pain in Kakushin's back was cold as the metal stabbed into his back. Neko was aware of what was going on, but no one dared move. Banto then spoke, and for once, the voice sent a shiver down Kakushin. It sounded so much more real, and harsh, and Kakushin now knew this battle was more than just proof for Banto. It was revenge, for something. And by the sounds of it, it wouldn't end here. Kakushin made sure to not move, and breath normally, any change and the wound might just become more fatal than a simple stab wound. Finally it was removed, and their opponent had already vanished away. Kakushin exhaled sharply, sinking down against the wall. Neko hopped down, moving around to check on it. "That bastard was right. A clean stab wound, cutting muscle and nothing else more important. But it's still pretty bad Kaku, you alright?" Neko stated. Kakushin sighed, "I'll be fine, it'll heal quick. Let me take a rest for a bit, and we'll try heading for the Mun Clan until I can fly." Kakushin replied, unable to rest comfortably with the cut in his back. It was a few moments before he spoke again, "Do you think, there are more like him?" Kaku asked. Neko's whiskers moved, "More Humans with a passionate hatred for Angels and Demons? There always have been. Some people just don't like, differences." Kakushin hummed in agreement. Ever since they knew how the world worked, there were some Humans hell-bent on fighting against it. "I've never seen one act like that though. And just think, if Banto aimed somewhere more fatal, he'd be starting a war. And, I almost feel like that's what he wants. If he's one amongst many, then perhaps the changes to our race and the Demons won't be enough to prevent such a future."
