Note: Well that was longer than I'd thought it'd be... 10x longer...
Akvan didn't think things would be this bad. It had been approximately two months since the fight in Baransu, and he wasn't getting any better. Whilst his skin was slightly less pale, and Akvan could walk almost without any hindrances at all, but his magic, and his mind, were getting no better. Akvan's magic, he assumed it would fix itself over time, but with each use, Akvan's supply ran itself dry immediately. It wasn't even a fracture of what the 'hero' used to have, and without his magic Akvan had very little else he could do. And his mind, well Akvan over the last seventeen years was never truly right. He'd gotten used to the constant desire to destroy, or the moments when he felt like he was disappearing or being dissolved into the air. He hadn't had an episode as bad as the first time, when Nanari had first met and help him. But even now, seventeen years down the line, and recently recovered from almost fatal wounds, Akvan was finding his sanity harder and harder to keep in check. The only things keeping him going were those around him. The increase in his friends and family, after officially being accepted back into others lives. Specifically Chester's, and Akvan hated every moment not spent in her life. She might even find him here, Akvan had left many notes and word around as to where he was going, even asking for Rurushu's permission to search the rubble of Mo's Manor before the new King cleared it out and made it anew. Akvan just hoped, if someone did follow him here, then what Akvan hoped to find here would be good news for once.
Akvan found the chamber easily enough, under all the rubble, all of Mo's secret defences had been demolished, and so all it took was a lap around the entire property to find a suitable spot to dig. Digging took out the little magic Akvan had, but hopefully he'd be granted more inside, in the place of the purest power. Making sure to watch his footing, Akvan expected to find the crumbled crystal that he'd left behind before. But the sight was something very different. Sometime during the last decade, the Sun Tear had recollected itself, recovering back to a large, pure gold crystal. Akvan looked at the crystal for a long while, not because of its size, but because of the soul he could see, resonating from it like a miniature sun. That was Akvan's soul, and the reason why, when looking at others through his soul vision, Akvan could never see his own. This body didn't have a soul, or a heart... because Akvan's heart was hiding out here and slowly recovering itself. It almost made Akvan cry in relief when looking at his birth crystal, but he couldn't remain like this forever. Akvan began strolling around the crystal, looking for any kind of sign of what was wrong.
"Look at what power you have gained, my son." Came a booming voice, which only surprised Akvan over how loud and clear it was, easily heard by anyone, not just Akvan. Akvan looked at the golden crystal, gently touching it. He smiled slightly, "It's amazing... but, why d-do I feel weaker, when i-it appears as t-though I am s-stronger than before?"
"The weakness you are experience is nothing of my doing, or any outside force. It seems that your body cannot hold out against its true purpose forever." The Sun Goddess stated. Akvan frowned, "W-what do you mean?"
There was a sigh, "Flood, there is no point refusing your purpose any longer. You can see the signs, this world is doomed. Resisting your urges will get you killed. Your magic refuses to work because it is being used for the wrong reason. Release that power, rid this world of its troubles permanently, by destroying it."
Akvan slammed a hand against the crystal, which seemed to hurt himself more than he thought, "N-no! I told you I-I would protect this world! There i-is still hope here, mother, hope that we can protect and help create."
The crystal glowed a bit, and like Akvan had once experienced in the Sun's realm, it began showing a moving picture, flashing through the last few months. The first fight at Mors Castle, the deaths. The isolation Akvan had felt when exposed with his secret exclaimed, and then the second fight. "Hope? Look at this precious hope, Flood... See what good has come from your years of hard work and determination." Akvan looked away when his mother rather harshly showed the image of when Akvan had been stabbed by Chester. "Look, even those you care for most will be your downfall Flood. Destroy this world, before it destroys you."
Akvan slid down the side of the crystal, refusing to look at it any more, and almost couldn't reply to the Sun Goddess. Akvan sniffed hard, rubbing his eyes dry, "I-I am not... what m-my blood makes me. I am m-myself, and I c-can choose what I want to do." Akvan muttered, and there was for once, silence behind him. "A-and I want to protect and s-save this world from the f-future you showed me."
There was another long pause, before eventually, the glow from Akvan's crystal began to diminish back to normal. "Your heart speaks for you, so it seems. I know now that I cannot convince you Flood, and I do not wish to force you either. So if your desire is to protect this... forsaken and foul world, then so be it. But know this, all that awaits you in this life is death, one day you will die at the hands of a friend, and I won't be there to revive you twice..." Akvan listened, though even this warning he was willing to defy. He didn't want to die, not anymore, not after a promise given to someone close to Akvan. "And another thing..." The Sun Goddess began, "I was once willing to see if this world could be changed, and offered you my blessing in showing me so. I cannot be convinced a second time. If you still choose to save this world, then expect to save it alone. I will not grant you my powers if you choose this reckless path, Flood. Whilst you alone can harness an infinite power of magic, it would take a long time, and a miracle, to ever harness it all without my guidance. Remember that, it is unlikely you will ever be able to use the Eteru form again. And it also unlikely that you will survive long, your mind that is, if you continue to resist the urge of a true Sun Tear."
Akvan had gotten up already. He was made aware of the consequences, but he was refusing to change his mind. Akvan could sacrifice the chance to ever hide behind his Eteru form again, perhaps crush his hands into pieces every time he used his magic. So long as he didn't have to do what his blood told him to, Akvan was happy. He didn't reply to the Sun Goddess, looking up as he prepared to leave... before seeing someone enter the chamber.
