Ru had heard the stories of how Kaku fought his battles, and had been in many himself to know the fundamentals. For a moment he was stunned with how the light passed him, but remembering the swords behind he was quick to act and move out the way just enough to miss the largest impact, the beam only managed to scrap his left arm, leaving it out of commission. Luckily, he would not need it. Making sure the power in his orb, was not enough for a long lasting effect on Kaku, he sent it aimed at the Guardians chest, admittedly the head was a much preferred choice, but this battle was about proving himself holding his own, not about actual defeat. "You are going to have to do much better then that Kaku, I may be slow with my movements and own fighting plan, but working out another's is a different matter... You seem to forget Im second in command of a rebellion, and have to know these things." Bringing forth another orb, this time making it hover nearby, Ru made sure to have the back up in case Kaku decided to play unfair and attempt to land a hit on him. "There is only one thing that will truly harm me, and trust me... That will never happen."

The Angel chuckled as his attack hit. It didn't matter where, since whatever it hit would put Rurushu at a disadvantage. His arm now useless, it would be impossible to the Demon to attack and defend so freely and swiftly. However, Kaku was caught in his small victory, leaving himself exposed for Rurushu's own attack. The orb hit Kaku in the upper chest, around his heart before being sucked into his body in a dark mist. That would alter things, Kaku could already feel himself lose light energy inside of him. The Guardian fell onto one knee, eyes glaring up at the Demon. His wings began to dissolve into flakes of light, Kaku sacrificing the energy needed for the wings so that he could use it to fight on, and his chest grew heavier. Kaku hated this kind of magic, it acted much like his own, but brought pain as well. Kaku could stun others without them even knowing, no blood or tears. And yet pain and suffering were the guidelines to Rurushu's magic, and being at the mercy of this spell made the Angel mad. Kakushin decided on something risky, closing his eyes to let his body be covered in light magic. This would take up most of the remaining magic, and on top of the darkness current eating away in his chest, it could end badly. "Are you trying to tempt me? If you can work out anyone's fighting plan, then I dare you to do something about this!" Kakushin grinned, the light magic around him intensified to a blinding degree, a hum of power coming off the magic. Kakushin took a deep breath before standing again, unsteady on his feet. With one hand slowly raised, Kakushin smiled, before the magic exploded outwards. Usually, Kakushin reserved this magic for taking down large groups of people, but he wanted to demonstrate his power right now, and so the risk was worth it. The light magic expanded out rapidly. covering the streets in a mist of light magic. It was virtually impossible to dodge, and effective in incapacitating the foe, so Kakushin was eager to watch Rurushu's counter for this attack.

Ru knew that regardless on what he did in this moment he would still be hit, but all was not at a loss, there was still a few shadows about for Ru to take shelter in while the worst of the magic wore off. Summoning the shadows inside himself, Ru slowly began to sink into the darkest shadow he could see. Though he was not immune to the attack, Ru was able to keep himself out of the worst of harms way, and only have his joints lock momentarily. "Our magic is both too alike and complete opposites, a battle between the two will cause neither to win." Waiting until he was able to properly move again, and the worst of the light left, Ru came out of the shadows, right next to Kaku. Holding his palm to his back, Ru summoned the shadows inside of Kaku, and removed them from the body. He knew the magic Kaku used must have taken a lot out of him, and even if they were enemies, Ru didn't want their fight to end in such a way. "I don't want to take you down like this, when we truly fight, it will not be some petty test."
Ru moved back to where he was originally standing, before looking at Kaku once again. He was ready for whatever he threw at him, deciding to let Kaku take the lead.. He would only counter attack if need be, for he knew Kaku was no longer at his best ability to give him a true fight between the magic's.

The magic explosion didn't work entirely to Kaku's standards, although the shadow-hiding Demon was somewhat affected. Kakushin breathed heavily as he watched Ru shake off the stun slowly. Sometimes, no, most of the time Kakushin wished to do more with his magic. To make his enemy feel pain, rather than a numb tingle to wherever they were stunned, or to actually hurt them. But he was the Guardian of Peace, given powers that force him to follow his job. Rurushu appeared again from the shadows, and even removed the dark magic from Kakushin, which was as relieving as removing a blade. He tried not to look grateful, and in turn Kakushin's attention for a moment was elsewhere. He glanced to something behind Rurushu that made him smile, but the Angel soon dropped the grin. "I would have been fine, with or without your dark influence," Kakushin replied, readying himself, "and you're right. Our magic negates one another too much... this isn't something I can end with silly light shows." The Angel smiled again, holding out an empty palm. Soon after, his white sword was tossed clear over Rurushu's head, caught in Kakushin's hand. "Thanks Neko." Kakushin called behind Rurushu. Behind the Demon, a small thug stood, grin on his face. "Was only followin' the signal. Bright light means Kaku is doing somethin' reckless somewhere, and probably needs Neko's help." The cat answered, shrugging casually before reverting to his cat form. Kakushin sliced his blade arm around the air to warm himself up, a smile on his partially exhausted face. "I owe you, but stay out of this now OK?" The cat was already maneuvering to sit and watch from a rooftop, meowing as he agreed to the orders. Kakushin started to breath a little easier, and it felt a lot better now that he had his sword in hand. "So, if you think you can counter me in magic strength, do you think you can also equal me by blade too?" Kakushin asked his foe, before waiting no longer. A quick dart forward in his usual swift way, and Kakushin attempted a slice across Rurushu's front.

"Want me to give it back? Im happy to if you think you can handle the full extent of it, you only had a fraction of my magic in you after all." Ru sensed something behind him, though he didn't work out what it was until Kaku's sword was in his hand. Sometimes Ru hated that cat. "Yep, he did something reckless alright... Its a good thing your little minion came along, I could have easily ended you if I so wished Kaku." Ru wasn't the best with sword fighting, especially when he knew his opponent was far better than he was but Rurushu was quick to dodge, it didn't help that his sword was a little further away, but no worries. He would make it, hopefully un-scarred. Running, Ru managed to grab a hold of the blade, and hold it out in front of himself. It was much easier to partake as follower, rather than lead in this dance, even if his attacking skill was not up to par, his defence was. Combined with the ability to somewhat discover ones next move, Ru knew his best chance as to hit Kaku when he least expected it. "I admit, magic is my forte, but im not terrible with a blade either. So, shall we continue?"

"Neko only saved me the run over there, plus it worth it for the look on your face." Kakushin answered with a grin, and Neko giggled from his rooftop. Kakushin swayed his sword around again. "And do I have to repeat it to you? You don't seem to understand that you've no say in how I die, so don't think you could just end me easily." Kakushin could have exhausted his magic, and had the darkness take out all the light inside of him, but so long as he could still move his arms and legs to some degree, Kaku wouldn't count himself as out. The Demon dodged Kakushin's first attack, and the Angel simply watched and waited for his foe to pick up his own sword. He wanted to win, but Kakushin didn't fight dishonorably, no matter the opponent. With Rurushu somewhat on par now with a blade in hand, Kakushin didn't wait to be asked to continue twice. Ru's positioning was that of the defender, and Kaku smiled as he led the attack, striking down heavy yet fast hits. With his left arm still somewhat stunned, there would hopefully be a limit to how long Rurushu could keep up this defensive style. "You seem to follow my every move. Funny, are you so used to following that Demon Goddess as her slave, that you'd even start to follow me too, Ruru?"

Ru could tell he was quickly going to reach his limit, with his left arm out of commission, he didn't have the balance in his stance as he once would. But even so, he would not be defeated so easily. He could also tell that they were back to their witty games... And that was a battle he refused to lose, no matter the cost. "I've been following you all evening. At least I receive treats from Itami, unlike you, Kaku." Ru noticed a slight, but not terribly obvious, break in his attack, and was quick to strike at his leg. It may be the only chance he had, now that he left his defence open he was sure to lose already, but he did not care, this was a battle he lost before they even begun. Despite this, he made his way back in the defence, in a hope to make this fight last just a little longer.

"I don't need treats to do what I do... accomplishing my goals are enough to keep me going." Kakushin replied, meeting Rurushu's sword hit for hit. The Angel jumped back slightly, holding his free hand high. Using his little magic energy left, Kaku called off the stunned light magic in Rurushu's left arm, drawing up into his hand and vanishing it. It was the only thank you Ru would get for releasing Kaku from the darkness spell. But even with his left arm given movement, it would remain somewhat stiff for a few moments. Kakushin dove right back into the fight after calling off his magic, clashing against the weaker swordsman's defenses. Rurushu attempted an attack, and Kakushin did the same. He sacrificed his defense, giving Rurushu's blade complete freedom to slice across the Angel's leg, but in return, Kakushin was able to use his free arm to grab the wrist of the Demon's sword-arm. Kaku winced through the pain, but now he had his foe immobilized, and it would take a simple swipe of his sword for Kaku to put Rurushu out of commission. But his sword remained down, for now. Kakushin tried to smile through the pain in his leg, "I'd drop the sword if I were you, Ruru, unless you want me to stab you and take it myself." There was little left for the Demon to do. He could strike out still, perhaps for Kaku's leg, but no matter the pain, Kakushin's grip was forever unchanged.

Ru knew that he was walking a very thin line wen he dropped his defence, though he was glad to lay a hit one the usually unhittable Kaku. He didn't really think about the true consequences of his actions, that is, if Kaku really was content on handing him over to one who can kill him... Or step over the boundaries himself and give the final blow. "Looks like you will have to do so yourself. I may have lost, but there is no way I will drop my weapon... Ide rather die, then willingly do such a thing." Ru gave Kaku a smile, he knew he could do no more, but that didn't mean he had to admit defeat. "So what's it going to be, Kaku?"
Rurushu didn't fear death, or pain. He had enough of it for it to become a normal occurrence. And regardless on what Kaku did now, he would still not be harmed by it, not truly. But that didn't mean he wasn't afraid, in fact he was terrified, but if Kaku ever saw the truth of that, Dranar would have frozen over a thousand times.

Kakushin rolled his eyes, such a stubborn Demon. Kaku dragged the fool against the building's wall, slamming Ru's wrist against the wall so that the Outlaw was forced to drop his weapon. "It's just a sword, Ru." Kakushin replied, a lot calmer now the fight was out of them both. To prove his point, Kakushin also dropped his own sword, throwing it carefully along the ground. Kaku stared into Rurushu eyes, wondering what on Sohul made this man so careless over life, both his own and of others. Didn't he understand it? Or was there something more Kakushin had yet to see in this Outlaw. "Why do you care so little about your life Rurushu?" Kakushin had to ask, face surprisingly solemn after winning. There was the usual tick in Kakushin's head. A simple lift of his hand, and he could end this now and forever. A tug at the neck and life in Rurushu would be no more. But no, Kakushin had agreed never to do that, no matter the temptation and the lust for inflicting pain. He'd made a promise after all, even if that promise was made to a dead man. And death to this particular man wasn't something Kakushin could bring himself to grant, under any circumstance.

"Seems you have much to learn... This sword isn't just a sword, its defence, something that can protect, even if you yourself cant. If I willing gave it up... Im giving up that protection." Ru hated it when one didn't understand the fundamentals of what even an inanimate object can mean to one. But when Kaku mentioned how he had little respect for his life, something inside him broke, and he allowed his body to turn weak and slide down the wall. "My life has been created in pain. I know little of happiness, the world would not miss me if I was gone, nor would one mourn. My life is worthless compared to those I swore to protect... And I would happily give my life away, if it meant protecting. Whether its another, or my own belief."
Ru allowed himself this moment of weakness, for what he said was true. But he did not care, life meant nothing to him if it meant living a lie, or not being able to help those you promised. "I know we joke about myself being Itami's lap dog, but there is more to it then that. She was the first friend I had, we made a promise. And I now have a duty to her and those in our command, I have a duty to the one I consider a little sister... And I would gladly die a thousand times over if it meant giving them one more hour of life... I may not have care for what happens to me, but they... They mean everything."

Notes: You know when I said Kaku would feel bad? Yeah, turns out I was wrong Kakushin's eyes followed the Demon as some phantom weight pulled Rurushu to the floor. He frowned for a moment, listening to what he had to say, before something made Kaku freeze. This story, these words. Kakushin had heard them all before. The idea that one's life meant nothing, and no one would care if they died. Then the Outlaw spoke about the duty to protect those he cared for. Kakushin closed his eyes. "Hey Kaku, you know I care about you right? In fact, you're the only person I care about. I've suffered most of my life, there was a time when I thought no one would care about me dying, and I thought no one would mourn."Then Kaku heard words he never wanted to hear again. Sacrificing yourself for the person you love. Kakushin shuddered. His eyes closed as he relived the nightmare. He was in the field again, looking forwards at the vision of purity he'd once cared so much about. The only person in Kaku's life that meant something. They would change the world together, and do anything for one another. But that day, the only person Kaku cared for was gone, sacrificing himself for the young Angel to save him. Kakushin finally opened his eyes, moving forwards to force Rurushu against the wall, one hand holding his wrist, the other gently around his neck. "Listen to me, Rurushu. You have no clue, you really have no clue. Why do you people do it? You think that your lives don't mean anything, and that their only use is to be sacrificed to those they care about. But what about us? The people you die for?" Kakushin had to stop himself for a moment, before his throat closed up and he couldn't talk anymore. "Kaku..." Came a soft meow from the roof. "No. You don't have a clue. You say that you're alone, no one will miss you. Well you're wrong you stupid Demon. They care, your friends, your sister... don't you think about what might happen to them if you just went and died? Didn't you think about what it would do to me to see you dead and rotting?" Kakushin froze again, staring long into Rurushu's eyes before dropping back on his heels, sighed heavily as he moved his eyes to the ground.

Ru allowed himself to be helpless, it wasn't everyday he had such a heartfelt confession, especially with one with fighting words back. But could not see the point in how they would feel, he who he considers a sister... He wasn't sure if she felt the same for him, not truly. As for Itami... Well she never seems to care for anyone for long, and he's certain he's long out grown that care. And any others he may care for... They only see him as leader. Not even the Demons who raised him cared. "You think you know everything don't you? Those who sacrifice do it for a reason, because they care... Not always is that care and dare I say it love returned. As I said, ide rather die protecting them, then watching them die because I couldn't. Sure the after effects for them would be grand, but people move on.. They have that chance to live, and if anything I have ever said to most has stuck in their brain, then they know ide rather they be alive and happy, then as you so put it dead and rotting."
Ru took a deep breath before continuing, he was pouring all of his hidden depression out into one conversation, so he may as well confess it all now so that it wont happen again. "So your the one who has no clue Kaku. In that moment, all we see is the chance to make a difference, to help another live... And rather than mourning the loss, one should celebrate the life they lived, and move on... Because otherwise that sacrifice is all for nothing."

"No, Rurushu... I don't know anything about sacrificing myself for others. But I know what it's like to have someone sacrifice themselves for me." Kakushin's throat clenched, so the Angel couldn't continue. Instead, he got up and moved a few feet away, facing the opposite wall. A sigh came from the roof. "Mr. Rurushu, I think you need to know somethin', unless you want Kakushin ripping this town in half..." The cat spoke, glancing up at Kakushin was seemingly shaking, trying to stop himself from flat out exploding in a mixture of anger and built up misery. Neko leaned his head over the side of the roof. "You see, back when we were younger, we had a friend, Itamu. Yeh, I know. But, well Kakushin really liked this friend, I mean really liked him. Kaku and Itamu were real close. But one night, we got in deep trouble, and Itamu told me to take Kaku and run. He died for Kaku, before he could say how much he really cared. Kaku doesn't know what it's like to sacrifice yourself for someone, but he does know what it's like to be that someone."
All the while, Kakushin was slowly composing himself, wiping his eyes and breathing heavier. "To sacrifice, means to give something up for the sake of someone else. It's truly the most selfless gift. But that doesn't make it the nicest gift, in fact it's the opposite." Kakushin finally turned around, returning to the floor to face Rurushu. He saw the Demon differently now, strange, but it wasn't all Rurushu in front of him anymore. "You know, even if you think no one else cares for you, I do, Itamu." That didn't come out right. Instinctively, Kaku called Ru by a different name, one that the Demon was beginning to compare to. But, as Kaku began to heat up, he remembered what Neko had already told Rurushu about his feelings for Itamu. Which meant calling Rurushu that was like saying that Kaku... oh.

Ru looked to the ground as the cat spoke... It was funny, how an Angel had so much heartache, Ru only ever had three people he cared for... One he doesn't know, nor does he wish to find out, fearing what would become of it. Itami, his first friend and Chester, a sweet girl he's grown to care for as a little sister. "I guess I never thought of it that way before... Then again, I've never had one who cared... Not in this life anyway, and something tells me its the same in my past... Im not going back on what I say... Regardless, I still have no care for what happens to me, but I guess I'll do all in my power to allow a different fate to arise, if not for myself, then for them." Rurushu closed his eyes and let a lone tear fall... Just the though of losing anyone he cared for broke him beyond belief, he almost felt as if he hit himself with one of his orbs, though that was impossible.
Ru felt something stir within him when he saw Kaku upset, he didn't want him to feel that way, even if he wasn't sure why... But he became confused when panic set across his features, he did not see what caused such a look... "What's with the Panicked look? It looks like you've seen a ghost.. Or realised something you wish was not true. Trust me, I've been there."
