Notes: Taking place some time during first year of war. Neko could be one to show Ru where Kaku is, or he could just hear the commotion, up to you ^^
Kakushin sat, looking at his hands for a moment in thought, the blood staining them slightly now. Taking a deep breath, he replaced the hand over his shoulder, covering up the small bullet wound he'd just begun to repair. A skirmish gone wrong against some Humans, where Kakushin's disadvantage of not taking lives made it difficult to fight those prepared to become savages for the sake of landing a hit on the Angel King. It was like some sort of bragging right now, for a Human to land a hit on Kaku, a sickening reason to make one look better in front of all the other Angel Hunters, who were now at such high numbers it might as well be assumed that every Human was a hunter and exorcist now. Kakushin wondered if Ru was also hunted for the sake of taking down the biggest targets. Kakushin hoped not, he'd hate to see Rurushu exposed to the fights Kakushin had to put up with and end so frequently. But, he supposed that was war, after all. His care for his other half was also part of the reason Kaku had remained away from everyone. He'd not stepped even close to Nanari's house since hurting her, only having messaged relayed to him through others. And when Kakushin did make himself known, it was only to a select few, the other Angels and Ru, specifically. The latter he'd find only to prepare another attack and attempt to retrieve their children. And when such plans failed, Kakushin would leave, without much word. He'd spend his time away looking around the outskirts of Sohul for a place to stay, or attempt to get back into Aura and find survivors. Kakushin had looked for Ikiru, after finding his brother's staff and dreading what state the Kyuban was in. And he'd looked, and found, Neko in the far off lands. The cat was hardly surprised by the announcement of war, but felt pity and guilt for how Kakushin was handling it all.
Neko was Kaku's only company that he kept around during his wandering of the outskirts. For the sake of keeping his close friend nearby, and the practical fact that Neko could help heal wounds. Neko wasn't around today to help after the earlier skirmish, gone off somewhere else. But the King wouldn't judge, only sit quietly on the stump of an old tree as he tended to his own wound. These forests weren't all too different from Rycora, only they housed far taller trees, and lacked much more civilisation. But, that didn't mean it wasn't possible to be found in this forest. Kakushin paused in his mending, his eyes fixed into a cold glare as he turned around to see the group of Humans from before, back with more in their party. Kakushin got to his feet, sword dragging by his side, clutched in his tightly clenched hand as the King's anger boiled. They just wouldn't give up, no matter how many times Kakushin knocked them away or paralysed them. Humans, stupid Humans, so idiotic as to try and tempt the Angel King to break his own personal vow and kill them all. Gritting his teeth, Kakushin prepared to start this, wings out and ready. "Turn around." He growled. The group scoffed, muttering to each other and audible mocking and insulting Angels. "No way, not until we've got more blood of yours spilt." "I could go for one of those wings myself, would look pretty good on my wall." "Yeah, they're pretty rare now, after all." Kakushin wouldn't hear anymore of it, lifting his injured arm without hesitation or even a sign of pain as he shot a blast of magic towards the group, making them all scatter and shut up in order to dodge. Kakushin prepared another attack, counting and observing those around him so that he knew how many he could strike down with his Light-Speed magic.

This war was taking everything out of everyone. Angel race becoming close to extinct, the Demon race worrying about what's to come next for them, and Ru doing all he can to keep them from attacking back. The human race's emotions running high, those who are innocent believing to be dragged into a war, and those willing to attack doing so at every possibility. His family, husband, missing children, sisters and brothers. His friends... Just everyone was being effected, some more then others. Ru knew more so, that the events that have occurred in the past year has taken much out of his husband, to the point that Kaku believes he has to hide to stop himself from hurting the others, tensions running high just like fear. He was glad that Neko was willing to take him to Kaku, Ru had no chance on finding him himself, and he feared for his husbands health and sanity, stopping himself from seeing everyone must be a thousand times worse. Rurushu didn't expect Kaku to be poised and ready to kill three humans, before he would be trying all he could to make them understand, and now, his emotions ran too high to remember who he once was. Slipping into the shadows, Ru let himself appear behind the three humans who thought it to be okay to mess with his husband, before giving out a predatory grin... Though Ru wasn't an evil king, and wanted to kill less then Kaku did right now, didn't mean he couldn't look the part, he was the Demon king after all. "You know, its not nice to mess with ones husband, especially after everything that has happened... I suggest you run, and run now, otherwise I will have three new coats to give to less then nice disciples of mine." Ru was ready to fight back if need be, and to stop Kaku from doing anything stupid, oh how he hoped to ease his burdens even just a little.

They weren't as stupid attacking as they were insulting Kakushin. The three didn't move after his first strike, remaining quiet as they observed the King's movements this time, rather than fire and slice desperately at him in attempt to land a hit. So Kakushin didn't move either, ready to strike, but ready to do so when they least expected it. Though Kakushin was left seeing something unexpected, trying not to be taken back as he noticed Rurushu just behind the group, appearing from his shadow form to stand behind the three Humans. Kakushin's hazy situation, and dropping emotions were lifted for a moment, almost smiling to his other half. But then he watched the Humans, worrying that they'd turn on Ru now and try to harm him as well. The three turned around, confidence shattered for a moment as they feared the Demon King, before one spoke out. "Or maybe we'll get to put Demon wings on our wall as well." He claimed, encouraging his two friends to stand firm as well. "And then, we'll get double the recognition." Kaku glared forward at them, and one turned to smirk to the King. "What will you do about that? King of no-one." He barked back to Kakushin. The Angel King was almost caught off guard then, by the Humans insults, and his own rage. But, he noticed the thug was looking just behind Kaku, not at him. Kakushin then heard the footsteps close behind him, and turned quickly to stab his sword into whoever planned a sneak attack from behind. It was only a child, perhaps ten years old, but it didn't make Kakushin hesitate after his attack. To the others, it probably looked like a horrible act committed by Kakushin, but in reality, his sword was still coated with peace magic, set to only stun and not harm. The boy fell to the floor, paralysed, and Kakushin turned around to glare back at the three Humans, sweat and surprise on their faces to see their sneak attack ruined so easily. Kakushin was pleased to see their smug faces so altered, letting a smile creep onto his own face, and a crazed chuckle to his voice. "What, was that your plan?" Kakushin asked, in a similar tone that the disgusting Humans had used on him. "Send a weak little child after me from behind? You're all as stupid as you are weak and worthless." The leading Human ordered his two friends to keep an eye on Rurushu from behind, whilst he tried to fight back Kakushin's words with his own. "You're one to talk. Boasting about taking down one child, and yet not have enough power to save even one of your pathetic subjects? Are you weak, or just selfish?" "Shut up." Kakushin growled. The man stepped closer, "I can just picture how hopeful they all were, that their King would save them, poor fools, putting their faith in some washed up scum like you." "I said SHUT UP!" And Kakushin didn't hold back, charging at the one man. His two friends took that as the cue to start fighting Rurushu back, to make sure he couldn't intervene either. Which left the man as Kaku's mercy, a smirk of confidence on his face even though he was massively overpowered. The Human didn't expect Kaku's rage to be so severe, or for the King to have such speed, but in the blink of an eye, Kakushin's sword had paralysed the thug's legs, causing him to begin to collapse. Of course, Kakushin wasn't going to allow the Human to fall, wrapping his free hand around the fool's neck and clenching it tight. There was no satisfaction in stunning them, Kakushin's rage wasn't died down when he defeated them like that. But this, choking the life out of this enemy, seemed to let out some of that frustration. Kakushin could barely hear Neko's voice, trying to tell Kaku to let go.

Ru just smirked to the Humans.... They were more the cocky kind of hunter then doing, "I would like to see you try, killing a Demon is tough, but can be accomplished, killing one who's half dragon, is a little bit harder." They obviously had a 'secret plan' consisting of a sneak attack, then full frontal assault unless it was needed. Ru gave a growl to the Humans as they addressed Kaku, his husband in no state of mind to realise they had only bark and no bite, he almost winced when the sword was imbedded in the child, but knew it was still peace magic, but Ru would not have blamed Kaku if it wasn't, if a child was willing to do this, then they obviously knew what they were getting into. When the fight broke out, Ru already knew they were aiming more for Kaku then for him, the two he was fighting nothing more then a distraction, but they seemed to forget he could sink into the shadows, a magic he was glad to have right now, as he quickly knocked out his two weak opponents, and appeared behind Kaku as he chocked the man. Taking a breath, ignoring Neko himself, Ru took hold of his loves hand and slowly unwrapped his hand from around the Humans throat... This was what they wanted, for Kaku to show his dark side, makes things easier for attack, and proves that there's a reason for doing this, for hunting them. "That's enough Kaku, we are not murderers, do not take his life. Its not worth it, just leave him here and go... Or I will drag you." Ru didn't want to seem so cold to his love, but it was needed... Kakushin was forgetting everything he stood for in place of rage, and Rurushu couldn't watch him break like that. "Come on Kaku, lets get out of here."

The Angel was so close to the line, the one that cut between being a murderer or not. For a long time, Kaku had stood on the edge of that line, unknowing to himself how close he was. The desperation to see pain inflicted on others was something the King had long desired, ever since his first friend, and love, was taken. Kakushin had controlled it, to the point of not even realising how close he was to crossing the line. But everything pushed on Kakushin's back now, his people, this war and the hatred Kaku felt towards so many. He just wanted a release from it all, that satisfaction of killing. His opponent was beginning to go blue, sucking on the air desperately and hopelessly, it was almost amusing to watch how the great feel, or in this case, how the barking dogs were turned into whimpering pups. Kakushin tried not to let up his attempt when Ru came over, trying to resist moving his hand away, until his husband spoke. They weren't murderers. No, Kaku couldn't become like one of them, so lax in taking precious life and abusing it. He blinked a few times, before quickly retracting his hand away, letting the Human drop to the floor gasping like a fish. Kakushin himself began breathing hard, staring down at what he'd done. The King glanced to Ru, nodding his head slightly. Neko jumped to the Angel King's shoulder, and Kaku turned immediately after to take to the skies. Rurushu would follow, but right now Kakushin didn't care who followed or not, he just wanted to get away somewhere else. He didn't fly far, landing where the ground was harder and the forest thinned out. The King was silent, to both his treasured companions, as he stepped across to a lone rock. Kakushin's fist came down hard on the piece of stone, repeatedly, doing nothing to the rock but plenty to his hands. "S..scum, all of them, I hate them all. They don't know pity, or kindness, they should all.. just die!" The King growled, continuing to desperately let his aggression out on the rock.

Ru didn't even glance back to the Humans as he chased after Kaku, landing softly beside him and watching quietly. He wanted to stop Kaku from hurting his hands more, but allowed his husband to get a few hits in to get out his anger, and say what he needed before Ru intervened, taking Kaku into a hug and holding his husband there, not letting him move, leaving butterfly kisses anywhere he could reach. "Death helps nobody, we should both know that..." Holding Kaku tightly for a little longer, Ru eventually moved so that they both were sat on the ground together, as he took his husbands face in his hands. "Im proud of you, you know. It takes a bigger man to walk away, to let them live, even if they deserve to die." Rurushu knew talking to Kaku right now would be hard, trying to make him calm enough to see things clearer again, but he would do all in his power to help his love with this. Leaning forward before Kaku could say anything, Ru left a lingering kiss to the others lips, before moving back the smallest of spaces so that their lips still brushed. "I love you, nothing will change that, but I need you to take some breaths, and calm, let go for the night, pretend nothing is happening."

Kakushin was finally stopped at the point where his hands bled, and his eyes were damped with tears so close to falling. The constant grief Kakushin was going through, fuelled by the reminders he was given daily by Humans in combat, made the King weak. So fragile that he practically collapsed into Rurushu's arms. He didn't struggle, from experience being careful around those he cared for, fearing how he could hurt them. The tears fell, like they did a lot of the time now, whenever Kakushin was forced to be like this. He was weak, and through that anger inside of him, he knew they were right. "They were right... right about me. Ru, I let them die.. I-" Kakushin was caught off, the self-loathing statements were prevented from appearing when Ru kissed him. The Angel was caught off guard from it, happily allowing Rurushu's desirable actions to distract his thoughts. After all, they reminded Kaku that he still had one thing, one precious person he'd never live without. Kakushin's hands found their way to Ru's back, holding him close as the Angel listened silently. He sniffed, pressing his head against Ru's. "Ru... I love you so much, if... if it wasn't for you... If I lost you too.." Kakushin swallowed, unable to shake the words out of him, dreading what kind of emotions and pain he'd go through if Rurushu was lost as well. Kakushin was ready to humour Ru, and his own stressed heart, in taking a break. "Where do you want to go?" Kakushin muttered, listening to his other half's breathing.

Rurushu cuddled Kaku close, still leaving little butterfly kisses to where he could reach, just comforting his husband. he knew Kaku was taking things hard, really hard, but he wasn't certain until now about how much he was suffering. Resting his forehead on Kaku's, Ru gave him a sad smile. "You did not let them die... It was all the Governments and Saints fault. You tried to do what you could, still searching for survivors now, keeping the last alive... If you let them die that day, then you would not be doing all you could now to help." Bringing Kaku in for another large hug, moving his fingers through the others hair, Ru gave a small hum, kissing the top of his head. "You wont lose me. I promise. No matter what comes our way, I will live, I need you to remember that... If my heart stops, shout at me, remind me of this promise, no matter what, I will come back to you." In days like this, war around every corner, Rurushu wouldn't want to make promises such as this, knowing there was a chance he couldn't keep it, but for Kaku he would, no matter what. Smiling to his love as Kaku showed interest of getting his mind off things, Ru dragged him up onto his feet. "Well, we can go get away to our secret haven for a little, or we can pay a visit to some friends and family, I know many who miss you. Or, we can just fly, settle ourselves somewhere random and untouched. Whatever you would like my love, its a day for you, and after we have let you have a break, we can go back to working in a team to sort this yeah?" Kaku was not alone, and Ru was going to make sure he knew that.

All Kakushin needed was right in front of him, and he'd neglected to see that each day. Keeping away from the others, suffering on his own was all Kakushin thought he could do. He didn't want to get angry again with his family around, and harm them. But Kakushin needed them all, Rurushu especially, the one person capable of calming the hurt King down. Kakushin tucked into Ru's shoulder, listening to him breathing and trying to slow down his own. "I don't want anyone to die.. even them, the Humans." Kakushin stated, "What I said before... I was just, angry." Kakushin muttered. He really didn't want to kill, or see bloodshed. But not everyone thought and acted like the King, Humans were trying to slay anything with wings. And others were retaliating against that, to their own right to do so. But, seeing all of this... chaos, made the King, and ex-Guardian of Peace sick. It made him sick when he was of the right mind, anyway. Getting steady once on his feet, Kaku still wrapped an arm around Rurushu, keeping his partner close. "I'd rather leave the others to themselves. I miss them too, but, I don't want to risk.. opening old wounds." Kakushin replied, quiet with his words. "We should head to that place, it's the one place we know is safe." Kakushin eventually stated, before squeezing Ru tighter, getting a little bit of himself back as he kissed his husbands cheek. "I love you, and all of your help. But, how many times will we have to try and get them back, Sky and Art?" He asked, pained by the fact that it had been about a year now. Art might be talking at this point, and his fathers were missing it.

Ru didn't want anyone to die either, hence why he was working so hard to turn the Demon race around, so that they could possibly get their desired peace one day. But that was much more difficult now, almost impossible, but Ru wouldn't give up. "I know it was just out of anger, I would have acted the same in your shoes, and I knew you would have regretted killing them deep down, killing anyone really. So no need to be ashamed of yourself." Smiling to Kakushin, Ru brought him closer and took a deep breath. To the haven it was, as Ru understood where Kaku was coming from with visiting people, no matter how much they missed his company and wanted him back... But Ru would bring them news, and hopefully after today, Kaku would lean on him a bit more, rather then isolating himself. "Okay, whatever you want, but at least try to visit them eventually, they do miss you. A lot, they want to help you too.." Closing his eyes, Ru let a tear fall, he missed his children greatly, and would do anything to get them back, but the more they tried, the more the Saints expected it, and were ready, it was a difficult call to make each time, and it was just getting harder and harder to make, especially knowing what they may be missing out on... But Ru knew Sky was keeping Art safe, even at her own cost, and thanks to Nanari and Jasper, Ru was able to get updates. "I don't know... But we wont stop trying, we'll just have to get creative. Jasper promised to keep them safe, and I heard from Nanari when she asked about them that they were fine for now, Sky causing a little trouble, but that's nothing new, Art looking up warmly to his sister, we just have to have hope."

Kakushin would regret killing. He'd always been on the edge of wanting to kill and not, ever since Itamu died. But Kakushin had never given into that desire, and he didn't want to. Sure, finally killing would give Kakushin the satisfaction he craved, but it would also bring a lot more. He'd feel like he'd betrayed everyone by doing so. The rules on Outlaws might be abolishing during these times, but for the King personally, they still stood. If Kakushin stooped low enough to kill, he'd banish himself. Kakushin leaned closer to Ru, smiling slightly. "Thank you. Your judgement is the only one I need, Ru." Kakushin mumbled, feeling his partners warmth. Kakushin looked to the ground. He did want to see the others, he was sure Ru would be able to drag him there one of these days. But, Kaku would probably resist it. It just didn't feel right during such fragile times to go to the place that, because of Kaku's actions, happened to be the place where war was announced, and Nanari had been hurt. He began to move forwards, before something pawed at Kaku's leg. "Oi. If you're going, put this over the wound, alright?" Neko ordered, putting a collection of wild herbs he'd gone and gathered just then and showing them to Kakushin. The King smiled a little, knelling down to take his friends offer. Kakushin placed the herbs in the pocket of his white jacket, then put a hand over Neko's head. It had been too long since the times the pair could simply explore, or even a time where Neko had the chance to jest with his Angel friend again. Kakushin felt guilty for it, knowing he couldn't help, and so gave Neko what thanks he could now. Kakushin turned around to see Ru's upset expression, mirroring it when he remembered why. "We'll get them back, even if we try everyday to do so." Kakushin reassured, moving to Rurushu to brush the tear away, replace it with a kiss. Kakushin's expression hardened with thoughts of Jasper, just barely keeping himself from remaining angry at the leader of the Saints, no, leader of Humanities army. With a deep breath, Kakushin tried to push his grudging thoughts away, "Shall we go then?"

Ru gave a small smile down to Neko before looking back up to his husband. "Don't worry Neko, I'll take care of this idiot, and make sure he heals up." Leaning down to ruffle the cats head, Ru was finding it harder and harder to 'hate' the little guy, to the point he was even showing affection... It was funny how far they had all come, and Rurushu was going to make sure they had lengths to go still. Ru smiled with the kiss, dragging Kaku back into a proper one, before giving him a small smile. "Even if we don't, one of the others will... Or Sky will be crafty and find a way out, that child has her ways." Rurushu knew who Jasper was, of course he did, he also knew what had transpired... He knew why Kaku hated him, but Ru couldn't bring himself to do so, he trusted Nanari, and she trusted him... If Jasper said he didn't want to kill all the Angels, he would believe him... But getting Kaku on the same page wasn't an option. Smiling to Kaku, Ru held out an arm for him to take. "We shall... Would you like to fly yourself? Or shall I go all dragon on you for the ride, so that you can rest your pretty little wings?"

Kakushin couldn't even feel the wound on his shoulder, not until Neko reminded him. The injury had been ignored during the fight earlier, and Kakushin fought as if it wasn't even effecting him. Now he realised he should have gone a little easier, feeling the torn skin ache as he stood up. Kakushin nodded a little. Times like these made him wish Hane was still around, the Guard took every mission in his stride, and no doubt he'd have the kids freed by now. All they needed was for Hane to wake up, doing whatever was needed to make sure he did as soon as possible. Visiting Hane would be great, but that required seeing others as well. Kakushin chuckled to himself, no doubt later the old man would yell at Kakushin for being so conflicted and foolish. "She could sneak into a library even under Hane's vigilant nose, so it's possible." Kakushin agreed, trying to think light-heartedly on the subject. Kakushin took Ru's hand, before frowning a little. "And let all of Sohul watch a big black dragon fly around? You know I'd always go for a ride, but we might need to pass this time." Kakushin commented, stretching his own wings a little. "Besides, these wings of mine aren't so 'pretty' anymore, right Neko?" Kakushin asked back. The cat huffed, already beginning to leave himself. "Don't remind me." Neko muttered, eternally sour over the large cut through one of Kaku's wings, that wouldn't heal. It was a huge stain in Neko's years of hard work, that seemed to only bother the cat, and not the Angel attached to them. Kakushin's wings twitched, "We'll need to fly careful as well, the one place Humans look these days is to the skies."

Ru hoped that Sky had thought of some way to escape. She had that aura about her that just spelled trouble, and she had a keen eye for such things, but even if she didn't, he most certainly hoped she was creating trouble for the Saints. But thinking on what Kaku said, Ru had to give a laugh. "Jasper did mention they had a library... I bet you she tried to escape, and got distracted by it, wanting to take what she could with her..." It wouldn't surprise him if that's the case. hell, thinking on it, he doubted anything else happened. Ru gave a little frown at not being able to turn dragon, flying around in that form had become one of his favourite pass times if alone and no duty to follow through on... But he knew where Kaku was coming from, so wouldn't complain today. "Next time then." Smiling slightly to Kaku, Ru moved around so he was facing the back of Kaku's wings, leaning down and kissing where the cut was. "Still the prettiest wings I know." Leaning back around, Ru gave a kiss to Kaku's cheek, before chuckling. "I know where the humans look, and that's exactly why we are not being careful... Because they expect it, they wont take mind to two idiots flying in the sky... I would know, how do you think I travel around as much as I do?" It was a little trick Ru picked up after flying carefully the first few times, the Humans watch for that, but when he just flew with no mind, they seemed to miss him... And though during the war he preferred his shadows to travel in, flying was something he refused to give up.

If the Saint's base had a library, it had probably already been looted by Sky by now. If even one person there mentioned it to her, then no doubt the young Angel wouldn't let up until she was allowed to explore. Kakushin smirked a little at Ru's frown. "Don't look so glum lizard king, it's only this once." Kakushin jested, feeling a little comfortable to jest now that he'd calmed down. Kakushin smiled softly, closing his eyes as Ru went behind him. "If you think so, consider me convinced." Kakushin replied, happy to humour Rurushu adoration of his wings, even if the King couldn't care too much. Turning around to face Ru, pulling his Demon king up for a better kiss, Kakushin pondered on Ru's plans. He didn't know if they'd just over-look a pair of Angels wings, Demons perhaps, because they were far more common. But, he'd trust Rurushu with it, as usual. "You have a point. But, if I think it's getting dangerous, don't expect me to hesitate grabbing you and flying faster. You remember how I got us away the very first time right? Just make sure to hold your breath this time." Kakushin replied, taking a few looks around. The area looked quiet and clear, so Kaku began moving his wings, brushing the ground as he pushed off. One hand remained locked with Ru's, lifting the Demon king up with him as Kakushin began hovering.
