Banto didn't even notice that calling Shyon a friend was a big thing. Then again, someone without a single friend was naturally quick to assume new ones, even ones they barely knew, and first met under terrifying circumstances that caused one of them to faint. And the term friend was rather loose, Banto still didn't completely trust this girl, he'd be stupid not to be a little suspicious and cautious given his history and her lifestyle. But he was working towards giving her that trust and as soon as he could. He turned an ear curiously. He'd been past Rycora before, back when he was confident enough to fly around with his parents, they'd never get close to cities or even small towns, but Banto just liked seeing the pallet of green below him, rather than the normal browns or reds of the wastelands. He then thought on the festival, he'd never been, and for good reason. Of course Banto longed to go see it, it was a sight and an event no book could properly capture for him, but it was the idea that he was guaranteed to be recognised if he went there. "Alright, maybe. It might help to go to new places, even if they're just wild ones. I've always wanted to go to the festival though, my parents have big names for themselves, and always promised to protect me if I went but... I don't know, I felt like if I went, I'd be a burden on them, I'd probably be a burden on you too." Banto admitted.
He smirked at his first success, aiming again, higher as Shyon instructed. It did land a little higher, not by much. Banto wondered curiously about something. He pointed one of the fingers forward that held the bow, and as he aimed the arrow, Banto aimed to the side of the target. He created a portal by the target's side, and created another that appeared right before the target. He aimed into one portal, somewhere near the centre. The arrow flew, warped through one portal, and came out of the other, almost dead in the centre of the target, if not a little to the right. He smiled, before glancing to Shyon, "Is that considered cheating?"

Shyon look to Banto before laughing and almost falling to the ground from it. "Do I look like the sort of person who cares what other people think? You wont be a burden, if anything I would like the company when I go for once, normally I'm just watching and wishing to take part... But its not as fun when your on your own out there." Shyon didn't know what she admitted it, but she was only sixteen, so she blamed it on growing up and wishing for something she couldn't get, besides its not like she was the sort of girl to enjoy that type of thing, even if she never got the chance to find out. "And Rycora it is next time, and I may take you to the ocean after, if you have been stuck here, I'm assuming you have never got the chance to really see it for yourself, as in not swim in it. Correct me if I'm wrong though." Watching as Banto aimed higher, she was about to say again, before she watched and gave a smirk at him, proud for his choices really. "Its your magic, its a part of you... So no, not really, and to be honest, if you can remember to do this, then I technically don't need to teach you the bow and arrow anymore, unless you want to know more as to not rely on your magic each time..." She could always teach him other bits, like normal archery, or moving targets in the sky. But for the most part, she didn't actually need to teach him anymore, in fact, it made an entirely new regime for his training,

The way she said it, made Banto consider Shyon's position a little more. Must get a little lonely. Sure she had something he didn't, freedom, the chance to make it up to people and earn her place in the world. But he had something she didn't as well, people to share life with. It must get a little lonely seeing others as nothing but people to work for, to earn forgiveness from. Banto didn't know what to think or say when Shyon admitted she'd want to go with company for once, other than nod his head slowly. "If you're sure, I'll consider it." He replied. He smiled a little more, pointing towards the lake, "That's as close as I've come to seeing the ocean, apart from that, only what the books tell me." Banto said, continuing his aim at the target. After his 'cheating', Banto smirked a little. "My mother told me a lot about my old self, mostly what horrible things I did. She did say however, that I was a genius in using my magic to my advantage in almost everything. It'll feel like cheating no matter how well I can use a bow, or any kind of weapon, but I like using my magic all the same. It's almost like a puzzle, figuring out how to place portals to help, anything to keep me thinking, I guess." Banto shared. "Of course it's almost useless in up close fighting, at least until I can master my magic or learn how to fight."

Shyon gave a little smile before moving on and looking to the lake. After the forest, she was totally making the next training session near the ocean for him. Watching for a bit more and giving a look as he spoke about his magic again in such a manner had Shyon hold her hand in front the bow and looking to him. "Put the bow down." They didn't need to use this to train right now, there was something more important to put in his head. "Useless at up close fighting? You could bloody well be the best and not have to punch anyone." Giving Banto a look, Shyon had to think of the best way to describe this. "Look, if I went to go and punch your chest... Open a portal on it, and the other one in front of mine..." Waiting for him to do so, Shyon slowly pushed her hand into the portal, as to not punch herself, before waving. "Now, imagine that, but faster, and in the middle of a group... Make them hit themselves, and with practice, you can open more and more... Right? I told you, magic is a part of who you are, abuse it, because it really isn't cheating. God knows how I do so." It would take time, and a lot of work to pick up on different ways people fight, but it was something he could apply with weapons and magic as well, if he really wanted.

Banto was just considering if he could fire directly down and have it still hit, but with much more force, when Shyon told him to stop. He did, and continued to frown with the girl's new resolve. He put the weapon down and listened carefully. He looked to his chest, then to a hand. He'd not considered using himself as a portal point before, it wasn't as easy and in the air or on a wall. He tapped his chest, creating the sigil mark, then one in front of Shyon's. The two sigil matched, and opened up as a small purple ring. Sure enough, Shyon's hand didn't even get to touch Banto as it passed through the ring, and instead went towards her own. He chuckled at how easy it seemed. "You mean, if I do this, I technically don't even have to hurt anyone?" He asked, because it was an amusing and very nice idea. He could certainly prove himself to be better than those who wanted him dead, if he never actually harmed them. "I suppose you have a point.. what even is your magic? It's not some sort of mind control, is it?" Banto had to ask, smirking to the last bit. He'd gotten used to her very quickly, almost too quickly for the timid teen, so it wouldn't surprise him if her magic had something to do with that, even if he was sure he knew the answer.

Shyon gave Banto a look before nodding, that is pretty much what the deal was, it was the enemy harming themselves as Banto used 'self defence' something common for some of her targets to use on her, though they didn't have the advantage of such magic. "Pretty much, it would be considered self defence if anything major happened, and at the end of the day, you would have done nothing to harm them, just stop them from harming you..." Giving a smirk over to Banto, Shyon looked to her feet, she didn't have to show her magic very often, preferring to rely on her skills rather then anything else in combat, and none had actually ever asked her about it. "Its different, I cant talk during it though, so keep that in mind and don't freak out..." The only person she had ever show did that, and it didn't end well for either of them. Putting back on her hood, Shyon closed her eyes and jumped, spinning her arms around and allowing her cloak to swirl before bursting into flames alongside her, and leaving nothing but a phoenix in place. Shyon flew around Banto's head a couple of times, doing a few flips in the air before resting upon his shoulder a second and soon after hovering in his face once more and turning back. "I'm a shape shifter, to put it simply." Shyon gave him a shy look but with a small smile, it felt nice being back to do that.

Banto could agree with learning more up close combat, or any sort Shyon wanted him to learn. Because whilst his magic may have once been used to do the most damage to others, the Banto now could use it do deal none at all, or fight by never harming his opponent. Yes they'd be getting hurt, but only by themselves, albeit unintentionally. He was smiling as he thought on it, without knowing, nodding along with Shyon as her words echoed what he was thinking. He hoped he wasn't going into an uncomfortable zone for Shyon by asking, he was only curious, rightly so considering she knew so much about him and he knew so little about her. He nodded slowly, "I can promise to do one of those things." He replied. He could keep many things in mind, freaking out was harder to resist, considering he fainted the first time he even met Shyon. Despite the warning, Shyon's magic wasn't nearly as shocking as Banto was expecting. It was, very extraordinary, and after the burst of flames, Banto smiled ear to ear at seeing the Phoenix. After she'd done her little tricks, landing on his shoulder and doing flips, Banto clapped a little when she returned. "Into a Phoenix, that's something rare and special." Banto replied, before smiling as a thought crossed him, "Phoenix are known to use magic themselves... are you sure your not just one of the fire birds posing as a Demon girl?" He had to ask, knowing the obvious, but a tiny part of Banto wondered what Shyon's origin really was. "It was very inspiring." Banto said, "I... I don't get to see much magic in action, other than my parent's magic." He explained further.

Shyon gave a smile before shaking her head. Nope, she was fully Demon who could just shape shift. Something she was glad for, as it still meant she could fly. "No, I'm just a plain Demon, from what I have gathered, I was from a clan or tribe of shape shifters, way of where. Now I simply use this magic when needed. I don't get asked to show it too often. That's not to say I don't have some magic to it though. I take up all the qualities one has... So healing tears for example." It wasn't something she had ever really experimented with though, over what she's discovered as she's grown... Like the healing tears when she almost lost a child she was trying to save, and her tears healed the girl but sent her back into her normal form straight after... Shyon gave a light chuckle though. "Trust me, magic's not all brilliant, some peoples are, but most have something common and boring, honestly, your parents have some of the coolest magic's out there. No joke, I hear so many stories about Gensho's Night magic and Yume's dreams... Kind of makes me jealous how often you get to see it in action."

Banto was still smiling. He liked all the legends, including those about the legendary fire birds, their magical powers, how they were supposed to grant luck to any who passed them. Shyon was obviously a Demon, but to have that as a gift must be something very rare, and very special. And perhaps Shyon didn't see that about herself, Banto only hoped she did. "All of their qualities?" Banto asked, a hand to his chin as he thought, "So that means the eternal flames, the healing tears... and I wonder." He thought on it, "Your power might also inadvertently give you immortality, technically. If it's really all the powers of a phoenix, then you might just resurrect like one too." He stated. That was both a good and bad trait, if one thought on it. But, Banto had doubts on that specific skill, if she was a Demon, it meant she'd died once already, and clearly the phoenix powers didn't help her then. Banto smiled, "The fact that magic exists in the first place is something to be grateful for. I've read many a book on how different we'd be without it." He smirked a little, "Dr Talidorm Julius Von Dyke apparently talks on the issue a lot in some of his volumes." Banto scratches an ear, "Life here's not so terrible, I'm forever thankful that I at least have them as parents. Their magic is just like the stories, believe me. Eighteen years of watching my father show off and it never gets old. Mother's however, yeah the dreams are nice, but it isn't always a dream she gives you." Nightmares were always a common and easy punishment when Banto was younger. He didn't get them often, only when being really rude or naughty, and the nightmares weren't too horrible, but they still stuck in his memory, and did their job.

Shyon gave a look and a chuckle. "Okay, I don't know about the resurrection side of the abilities, I turn back to this state if I take too much damage as I have discovered... And unconscious with that, so its not something I wish to find out. But the flames and healing yes, I do have..." Shyon never really thought on her powers that much, as its something she's always had, and there's so many others she would prefer, even if she does love this one. But Banto had a point about the magic, even if she didn't fully agree. "Magic can be different for everyone, some never use it, while others abuse what they have... Rarely out there lives people who don't have any at all, like Nick I believe his name is... And they seem to get on perfectly well... I recon one day we wont really use them, or wont know were doing so..." Shyon looked to the house Banto lives in, and then around the lake and thought on what she saw when first meeting him. She would give anything to have even a fraction of this sort of life, so he was pretty lucky. "Your lucky really. Even with the nightmares, it couldn't be all bad, everyone has them, and sometimes they teach a valuable lesson in life... I'm sure your mother only used them on you when needed... And at least she controlled them, some don't have the luxury of knowing someone is making them up." Like her when her wings were cut of... That was real, and she remembered it for weeks after.

So that would counteract the resurrection side of things, Banto thought to himself, nodding. It could be disappointing, if immortality wasn't as terrible as Banto learnt it was. From books, and from general understanding, living forever wasn't a good thing, and it certainly wasn't something someone should want to have, or seek out. Banto had to smile again, "It's still incredible. I'll try to be uh, cool about it. But I did grow up reading all sorts of stories on legendary creatures like Phoenix and Dragons, so sorry if I appreciate it a lot more than you'd expect." He explained. He'd stop himself asking Shyon to transform just so he could watch one of the great flame birds fly around at least. "I think one day Humans won't need it. Angels and Demons need magic to live, but Humans... I think they might grow out of it one day, what with being so reliant on their own strength." Banto said, he thought of himself then, the old him. He certainly believed in his own strength, enough to use it against the world. Banto blinked out of it, thinking on his parents, then looked to Shyon. Her last words were distant, Banto had little social experience, but he knew when someone was speaking from experience about something in the past. "What do you mean?" He asked before thinking, and then his thoughts caught up. Banto raised a hand, "No, never-mind, don't answer that." He quickly added. He didn't want to impose uncomfortable situations onto others, and especially not Shyon for some reason.

Shyon gave Banto a smile before chuckling. She honestly didn't mind his enthusiasm for her magic, it was something she's had all her life, so doesn't see the same appreciation of it as others do... "Its fine, I don't mind, so any questions or if you want to watch me fly around more, its all cool... I can show you my 'party tricks' like bursting into flames at one point if you like..." Shyon needed the wing stretching time anyways, and this was the best way, heaven knows how she's been snagged enough time by people wanting a phoenix, at least she has someone watching her this time. And it was nice to see another who shared her views on such things, the last person she told didn't take it too well and tried to prove exactly why 'humans wouldn't go off their magic'. Smiling sadly as he asked what she meant, remembering the pain, Shyon shook her head before removing her cloak and turning around to show the other the missing wings. "Its okay, I trust you. Last guardian I had before running decided he wanted some new decorations for his house. Some nightmares aren't dreamt up, that's all." Putting back on the cloak, Shyon gave a hollow chuckle. Banto did have a right to know a bit more about her after all she knows about him, just didn't help with the memories that tried creeping back up on her.
